Interesting app indeed. I saw the announcement, downloaded the app from the Appstore and tried to use with my webex account. I could not get it to work. Looks to me like Cisco marketing machine is at it again. Great, early announcement of a prototype. Now, where's the beef?

PhoneTopp is the market leader here -- announced a more comprehensive solution at the "Under the Radar" conference in early November. Actually, so innovative that it won "Best in Class" by the panel of judges made up largely of VCs and "Best of Show" by the entire audience. Best thing is, when launched, it will not be iPhone-specific but will deliver solutions that work across Blackberry & Windows Mobile devices AND will not be WebEx-specific but deliver solutions that work across Microsoft Live Meeting, Adobe Connect, and Citrix GoTo Meeting (now, I don't know the exact timeline for all of this but it ultimately promises to address a much larger set of customers). Lastly, as I understand it, there is a much broader mobile collaboration strategy attached that does beyond this very cool but limited implementation. Lastly, as I understand the WebEx announcement, there will be limitations to what it can do that PhoneTopp has already announced will be a part of its solution (ie. addressing some of the earlier comments about recording and transcribing, etc.). Looks like a nice horse race in the making!

the phrase "free download" is a little misleading, as a webex account will have to be set up first to be able to participate in meetings, and the iPhone plugin will simply help participate in meetings. talking of communication and collaboration through the iPhone, another cool app is (HyperOffice, which lets you access intranet features through the iPhone - document collaboration, official mail, Outlook mail, calendars, contacts, forums etc.

great article, love it, we do all the webinars through webex finaly I can join them even by the pool :)
