From what I've read, Eric's operation was completely bootstrapped. So considering that, I think he can be called highly successful. He has run a profitable company and gotten a nice payday. He has done well for himself. Digg may have the mine-share, but Ebaum (from a business perspective) is a "better" operation. Youtube has redefined the video market in general so there is really no comparison.. but it's a great story...there was a great article about him and his company either FastCompany or Wired.I don't remember...

Don't congratulate this guy, his site is the biggest scam on the planet. Everything on it is stolen from someone else and this guy's making money off it. eBaum’s did not loose out to YouTube, Digg and other “web 2.0″sites, they rip off the best content as curated by other sites. Just compare digg.com/videos with the featured videos ebaumsworld for the past couple of months, and you'll see a remarkable similarity.
Best thing about it is that he made profits and one hell of a cash out, while all of you stood there and said "This is wrong someone do something".

The content on ebaums is not user generated, they stole their content from other websites and refused to take down the stolen content and refused to even give credit to the creators.
