Glad to see that there is still such excitement around the Library of Congress/Flickr project. I know they've been continuing to put new photos up on Flickr every Friday for a while now.

It's sad though that people don't realize all that the Library has directly on their Web site. There is a treasure trove of AMAZING historical content on there.

One of my favorites is the Veterans History Project (http://www.loc.gov/vets/). It's an archive of oral histories from veterans. You can listen to the audio interviews of them telling their stories of what life was like back during the different wars. SOOOO fascinating.

Not knowing Dorthea Lange's work is, IMO, criminal.

Great Walker Evans photos. He's my favorite. Happens that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has an exhibit on Evans and his postcard collection, showing how some of his work was influenced by postcard imagery. We're going this Sunday. The show closes this Tuesday.

I got a head start on Flickr and have been using Great Depression pictures to compare to and comment on conditions today. My photo-toons take a humorous and irreverent look at current events as seen through these old, classic photos. The idea is to make this current Depression a great one! http://www.flickr.com/photos/cathleenritt/sets/...

Must have been scary times. Our economy is not so bad after all.
