I think it's an example of why they SHOULD use drugs...
  • jeremygoldstone · 2 months ago
Any guess whether or not they paid Paramount for the use of the Klingons?
  • Brett Jackson · 2 months ago
Is that even legal? To imply that will happen to you if you get caught?
  • Name · 2 months ago
This is an awesome song! Anyone know where I can illegally download it?
  • User · 2 months ago
OH YEAH! You can find it at my online-lair. Let me just give you the lin- WAAAAAIT A MINUTE!

    Nice try, Record-and-software-industry. Oh, you!

Angry with myself for watching that. Like when someone says "oh my gosh, this smells horrible" and you check for yourself. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Disgusting ad... great point on Apple's music take over.
  • Daniel · 2 months ago
Yes, this is the worst thing I've ever seen.
  • Justin Hopkins · 2 months ago
They should have used english subtitles for the Klingon part: "You have dishonored yourself and your family by making this copy, what what!"
  • lolwutwut · 2 months ago
That would be actually "creative" and would somewhat save the whole failboat I've seen
  • NielDLR · 2 months ago
Wow. Ahahaha. That was ridiculous. The song started cool, until the rapping started.
  • Ruth Weal · 2 months ago
Oh dear, bizarre, terrible, funny and utterly inept all come to mind!
  • @DocHobbes · 2 months ago
...please tell me this was licensed under creative commons.
My entire office is now laughing at this. This sort of thing honestly just encourages piracy.
(btw if you haven't I really suggest watching RIP! A Remix Manifesto)

"They also replaced my voice box with a girl's."
  • haris · 2 months ago
Anybody who thinks that thing was a good idea, or is in good taste is out of touch with the real world.
  • Ahrengot · 2 months ago
    Wow...
  • Andrea Kuhn · 2 months ago
This add is so crap that it's more likely motivate pirating, as with the colossal flop 80s 'just say no' anti-drug campaign.
  • Levi Lenaerts · 2 months ago
i feel sorry for the people behind this clip. I'm behind their idea, but oh boy, this clip is lame...
  • Kacey Cox - DateClik · 2 months ago
    This is just silly!

    Pure rubbish.
  • patriotOfTime · 2 months ago
why is he writing on the wrong side of the cd? so full of fail
  • David E. Curtis · 2 months ago
Ok, Downloading shouldn't be illegal, its the pubisher's fault for not staying 2 steps ahead of copy breakers. Then you don't have to have lame Rap videos from a guy with a name abbreviated double penetration. Stop blaming the audience and arresting them, Hire the people that break the protection. Ever watch catch me if you can?
  • pgcrockhead · 2 months ago
Yeah. You know what else? Rather than punishing theives, we should just force everyone to get better security systems. Because we all know how effective security systems are. After all, if you can't prevent me from taking it, then it rightfully belongs to me anyway.

The truth is, as a software developer, I enjoy getting a paycheck to pay bills with. And you can only go so far to protect your software from piracy. Even the most piracy-secured stuff finds its way onto uTorrent. Don't try to justify it by saying it's the developer's job. It is to a degree, but you have to throw out all common sense to say it should be legal.
  • Adeel Imran · 2 months ago
It is the worst thing that I have seen man ! honestly .

    http://gobblerr.blogspot.com
  • Rudy Magaña · 2 months ago
that was bad. not bad as in good either.
  • recipe4romance · 2 months ago
It is super cheese slick ad and although it is a lame attempt at hipness. I have to admit the hook is catchy and the production value for the media is well done. If you think of it haven't they won in the sense that they have people talking about it. The Ad is so bad it's good !!
  • Crazy Sean · 2 months ago
"The Ad is so bad it's good." My thoughts exactly.
  • Trickpedia · 2 months ago
lol .. is this an ad =)) ..
  • Anthony Milliken · 2 months ago
Yeah completely terrible. Laughably bad. The worst and probably most annoying part of the whole ad was the actual guy in prison. Could his voice get any higher
  • mabar207 · 2 months ago
If anyone from future generations see this video, they'll wonder how come our race didn't go extinct...
  • Benjamin Dobson · 2 months ago
What is it with prisoners and high voices?
  • vegas · 2 months ago
    Prison Bitch?
  • Rob Strobel · 2 months ago
God thank goodness they don't publicise other crimes like this. Help! You gotta wonder wot would make someone wanna make this kind of disaster. LOL
  • Raoul Verveer · 2 months ago
Hahaha. At least they had one line right: "there are new rules in this wireless age." They should have listened to themselves... it's not a crime, it's just a copy.
  • The Baron · 2 months ago
    Is this for real?
If this is a real anti-piracy ad, it's indeed the worst ever, seriously..
  • Justin Myser · 2 months ago
What? Why? Don't copy that! What what why? LMFAO!
  • RegentRoy · 2 months ago
Ridiculous junk! There should be new law made to deter
    such STUPIDITY.
  • ghensel · 2 months ago
Time to introduce you to a new German word which doesn't yet exist in the US: Fremdschämen. It consists of the words Fremd and schämen. Find out what it might mean.
  • vegas · 2 months ago
I hope more people pirate stuff because of this ad.
  • EntrepreNerd · 2 months ago
I just ripped the swf file so I can "copy" it to a dvd and set fire to it. It really does sounds much better hissing and popping in a fire.
  • Sally · 2 months ago
Are there any tips online about getting swf files? Of course, I don't want to copy them, just explore them.
  • Ryan Lalonde · 2 months ago
Haha I loved the first one and this one is just as good. So hilarious.
  • Burnman · 2 months ago
I cannot express in words how horrible that video truly is.

*****Breaking News*****Pirating has increased by 75% since the release of this video. I agree with Pete and everyone else who has commented, why did they have to use Rap. From the guy being named "DP", the mom who was hauled off by SWAT, the Klingons, and the "Devin's Dance Grooves" routine towards the end was uncalled for. They went overboard by having the kid at the end who got busted for pirating. He's the only guy I know or have heard of being busted for pirating. I guess he's 1 and a 1,000,000,0000. LOL!
  • Mike Mella · 2 months ago
The real "DP" doesn't show up until he gets to prison...if you know what I mean.
  • david · 2 months ago
Did these guys pay the owners of the Star Trek for COPYING the klingons? just wondering....
  • camkevbell · 2 months ago
I'm not taking any advice from someone named DP Guy.
  • Julia · 2 months ago
Did they really need to name their spokesperson DP? My mind goes straight in the gutter when I hear that and it's hard not to imagine rich, not artists industry folks sticking one in the artist and another in the consumer. Too vivid? Or too right on the money?
  • advocatus · 2 months ago

A 6 year old with a learning disability could have produced a better video.
  • BlitzWing00 · 2 months ago
Man that really is a bad Anti-Piracy Ad.

This Anti-Piracy Spoof by the IT Crowd is even better: http://bit.ly/vG04E
  • Calvin Chin · 2 months ago
LMAO, just hilarious. By the way I thought that was a girl's voice at the end. No offense to him or anything.
  • tyrewebdesign · 2 months ago
Absolutely horrific! What were they thinking. They have to stop f****** suing everyone and just make it easier and cheaper to buy legit.
  • pkingkong · 2 months ago
I'm a slow retard. What good video should I compare this to know that it's bad?
  • SilentRage · 2 months ago
This looks like something the very unfunny SNL would do to parody a song. This is worse than a white guy rapping the words to Kanye's "Golddigger"
  • Kera Torrence · 2 months ago
That's absolutely ridiculous. What the heck? I wasted 5 minutes on that? Aaaaaaggggghghhhhhhhh......
  • FakeName · 2 months ago
Haven't they made enough money yet? EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FREE ON THIS NEW DIGITAL ERA... Why don't they take their 1,000,000,000000000 reward and get a life? Should be enough to buy a brand new one.

They really should fire their marketing team. They're aiming at the wrong public. Most retards don't know how to use computers.
  • Priyanka · 2 months ago
That ws terrible to have to watch that vid!
  • Guest · 2 months ago

  • Doc Rock · 2 months ago
Can I have my 4:54 back please. I can't understand why i watch that POS. It was Whe Whe Whack!
  • idoric · 2 months ago
I would rather listen again the song "copying isn't theft" http://questioncopyright.org/rearranging_isnt_t... (note the consistency of song's topic with his way of distribution: under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License)

Anyway, the SIIA tries to convince us that the copiers do it for the money, but almost everyone shares freely.
  • Mike Dammann · 2 months ago
wow great video. I'm getting it now. Hallelujah

  • Σχολή Χορού · 2 months ago
Come on people, its not so bad ....
Don't copy that floppy yo man
Can I copy this hit of DP or ill end up to prison? At least in the video the prisoner wear this neat red uniform, not like the old fashion striped we have here in Greece
  • Ryan Biddulph · 2 months ago
I'll give it props for shock/impact value. I won't forget it to soon.

All I had to hear was the first 5 seconds.

Do you think the marketing guys were from the 'Burbs? Or that they think rap is still like this today?

I thought the Fat Boys were going to jump out.

    Whiggity Whack!
  • Jonze · 2 months ago
Is the rapper that guy from that "what what in the butt" video?
  • Timo Luege · 2 months ago
I have absolutely no problem with the ad. Haven't copied a floppy disc in ... ten (?) years.
  • crazylegz · 2 months ago
if this is for real, that will be so sick. If this is a joke, well, it's kinda funny but it's not.
  • Darryl Halse · 2 months ago
Who could possibly take this seriously? It's unbelievably bad ... almost as though it's purposely ridiculously awful.

Seems to be an excellent indicator on how well they're doing with this 'war on piracy'. Open source ftw.
  • JohnAtkinson · 2 months ago
I guess Mr. Belding, Screech and Zack are on the editing room floor.
  • CatherineVentura · 2 months ago
Hilariously bad, perhaps intentionally so, though. with the incessantly chanted line "it's not just a copy it's a crime." Could it be they're going for "don't squeeze the Charmin" stickiness: bad but unforgettable?
  • Name · 2 months ago
Will you get in trouble if you copy this?
  • James Eagle · 2 months ago
    Worst? That was awesome!
  • Chris Sylvester · 2 months ago
This is clear evidence that the industry is outdated and out of touch - their feeble attempts at connecting with a young audience (and failing miserably) are clear evidence that they have absolutely no clue how people want to purchase music or software. They continue to resist digital downloads - and this they do to their detriment instead of embracing it and capitalising upon it.

In stark contrast, Apple have nailed it with their innovations within the digital download industry and know exactly what people want. The sooner that record companies and movie makers stop making it difficult for people to purchase media online and stop viewing digital downloads as a threat to their industry instead of a glorious opportunity that is to be embraced, the sooner they'll avoid extinction of their kind at their own hands.

Sadly, I suspect that the record and film industry will become the dodos of our generation - only to be survived by a much fitter, evolving industry that is Apple iTunes and the like. (Although that's probably not such a bad thing)
  • Ian · 2 months ago
I think it's the best anti-copy ad that I've seen but it shows who runs these big companies - people who fail to understand the value of sharing or the importance of usability. I have before not bought music simply because of frustration with the registration process, why fill out a huge form and give all my payment details when I may only use the service to buy one song which I then have to import into iTunes or Media Player?
  • Name · 2 months ago
Did the current owners of the Star Trek franchise get a cut of any profits made from this ad? If not, well, I guess they shouldn't of copied that!
  • Jonathan · 2 months ago
What (might) be interesting about his video is that it appears to be directed against those who would make copies for profit. Does this mean that the record companies feel that those who copy for their own convenience (perhaps about 99% of all those who use the Darknet) are beyond persuasion?
  • MediaCollective · 2 months ago
If they are going old school "klingons" and teen who really does not look that upset parent is hauled away threat.

    Get em where it hurts
why not flash back to Mission Impossible Message destruction

Congratulations you accepted the mission to down load and copy pirated materials.
"By choosing to accept the mission via downloading"
Your helping us rid the internet of pirated software, music, games & more, your such a good net-a-zen.

On to your mission, sit back --- relax--- shortly the illegal download on your hard drive automatically will self destruct all movie, game music files off your hard drive (because we haven't figured out how to delete just ours so we will delete all of them) in 5, 4, 3, 2 .......... Ka powwee

    Thank You For Your Help

Silliness aside negative threat campaigns don't work especially within this demographic.
  • TheyDontGetIt · 2 months ago
Even if it was there intent to make such a viral video ad, it is still horribly off the mark and seriously uncool and misleading. I feel bad for their children, really bad.

    Fail...
  • DKY · 2 months ago
OMG... Are you sure the guys at SNL didn't do this????
  • tim · 2 months ago
And yet, here we are watching it and talking about it. Maybe it wasn't so horrible after all?
  • alexmpayne · 2 months ago
I'm wondering, did they get permission for the dancing Klingons? I feel like their appearance doesn't fall into the fair use category...
  • Alf · 2 months ago
an insane waste of money and of precious time of those who have watched it!
  • rad_ness · 2 months ago
That.was.bad. Looks like something the guys from 'Family Guy' or 'South Park' would make to bust on the cheesy ads or anti-drug commercials from the '80's. Too Lame. Hopefully they didn't pay much for it and I hope the actors don't put that commerical in their resume.
  • Seb_or_Sam · 1 month ago
Is this a joke? I'm serious, I want to know if this is a joke. It has to be. No one could take this seriously.
