That being said, this was absolutely not a world-captivating rendition. She set the bar far too high with the previous performance. :)
I further reviewed the song. She starts singing at 2:20. At 1:34 and at 1:58 I cringed (she said and not sang "a memory too"). ITV needs to post an HD clip of this.
My preferred version is performed by Sarah Brightman, specifically performed simultaneously in English and Italian. Then again, this is not fair - Sarah is a multi-platinum singer. :) Elaine Page also absolutely masters this song in her live 1998 recording. Again, not a fair comparison.
I believe Susan is a multi-platinum star once she gets used to the global spotlight.
MASHABLE: this is not the official clip. It contains a link to some commercial video.
This is the official clip (from ITV) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SncyQKe6CnQ
So here's the issue: rather stupidly, Britain's Got Talent created different versions of the video for different countries. The one you link to only works in the US, but we have an international audience who wouldn't be able to view it. I'll dig around and see if there's any official versions that work globally.
person that compares all the versions by your preferred singers. All excellent in their own right but they lack something when compared to Susan Boyles version. So it is all a matter of preferences and you are entitled to yours ofcourse. I prefer Susan Boyle to all of them.
She did look nice but she has to do better than that to be in the running to win the competition, and I think it is just a matter of getting her butterflies to fly in formation. I am a singer also, and I could tell she was so nervous that she was unable to sing/breath properly.
Whoever is fooling with this woman's natural talent, and with the music arrangements, it just
getting in her way. Let SUSAN sing!
Thank you for this presentation.

No wonder. I don't know of anyone that ever had so much pressure on them.
But once she got going, she did a wonderful job.
The judges were right! The whole world is watching you. You are giving so much joy through your fantastic voice and your down to earth country attitude.
I'm e-mailing your utube videos to friends here in New Zealand so that we all can enjoy your music.
Good Luck for the final but more importantly "Live Your Dream" and the Queen will be blessed to hear you perform live. Enjoy it!!!

I wondered if Susan Boyle is a one-trick-pony, now I'm starting to think she is. And what's the trick? Everyone's shock, surprise, and emotive response to the first time she walked on stage in the auditions.
But the public are a fickle bunch, easily bored.
Now that we've all seen that first performance and have gotten over the initial 'surprise factor', the act has been stripped down to what it really is; an average woman with an average voice.
thrust from a little village to the world stage in a couple of weeks. I hope her final selection
is more in her range because we need her to win for us.
Something has to be done about her teeth if she is going to continue singing on camera though, they looked all yellow.
Brava, Susan !!!!!
I hope you make it right to the top! You make your listeners cry from happiness. You have a powerful voice, you are witty, and you are humble. My dream is for you to meet the queen! Good luck, Susan!
Congratulations, Susan!!!!!!

"I wanted you to move around a bit more.... naughty boy" - How ridiculously lame that is from an actress who isn't even on imdb???
I want to hear your beautiful voice over and over again.
God Bless You!!

I am sorry but her first performance was not wonderful, and blame it on what you will, memory was hideous. She did not support her voice at all for the whole performance, and even after her stumble at the beginging there isn't a huge improvement. There are much better singers out there; and I dont see why this lady should be allowed to waltz in and take the spotlight they so rightly deserve. Sorry to anyone who this may have offended, i.e. anyone who listens to what the media say rather than what their ears tell them; but she is not worthy of the final of any competition, especially not a talent one... however that 12y/o can really do it if he wants. my only concern with him is that he will damage his voice before long.
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Yes, you can. You make me a beteer person with your song
