For Category 7, for Site Of The Century, and for a lifetime achievement award.
Large social network BEBO.com - I love the fact it's so much more better designed than Myspace, and everyone at the office even has an account. I think they deserve where they are.
I come accross this smaller social network when I was at a press conf, it's ran by a very down to earth 17 y/o - apparently with over 320,000 members - pplparty.com
For widgets for me it has to be rockyou.com - I'm always coming accross this widget. Think its a great design, and they come accross more underground than anything, which i love.
I'm also happy to put accross Flikr (very nice app), Xanga and Piczo.
Niche: Exlusive network for moms
Went live on October 17 (exactly two months ago tomorrow)
See latest press and praise:

No VC funding to-date.
It fits nicely in the niche category. Yes its new and doesn't have a big member base - does that mean its disqualified?
Yes I suggested my own project - is that not allowed?
category #12 (niche): bikespace.net >>link
bikespace.net is an online community for cyclists with mapping, messaging, & group organization and ride invitation tools!
Once again, I'm going to reiterate that *no comments get deleted*. It's just that when people post lots of links, the spam filter gets suspicious. If your comment doesn't appear immediately, contact me and I'll see if it's being held for moderation.

They just cut a huge deal with Sports Illustrated for SI's Faces in the Crowd, and have some ridiculous athletes promoting the site (JJ Reddick, Freddy Adu, others).
Thanks, Pete.
Sam
Is it just me or don't other people want to know how the winners will be selected. What are the criteria that you will be judging these social networks on?
I'm guessing usabliity, interface, site design, ease of communication, quantity and quality of connections, use of latest web technologies would all be inlcuded in the list.
Here is a twist; sites that should not win. I hope Myspace doesn't receive an award...because they flunk in all the above categories (just because its the biggest doesn't mean its the best) and lastly Dogster, why is it even on the list, have you not seen their front page :p
Don't let us down Pete.
You're gonna be selecting the winners next week, if all goes well. ;)
As for criteria, I don't want to list specific criteria and hence influence anyone's vote. As you say, MySpace wouldn't get many votes if we made usability one of the criteria, but judging by their numbers, they'd get the most votes from the mainstream crowd. In fact, I suspect MySpace will perform poorly in these awards anyway, since Mashable's most active participants tend to be developers, bloggers and tech addicts: the kind of people who think good code is a priority.
in the Widget category. It is a great tool for storing and playing videos from different social networks on your profile.

Nomination: www.salespider.com
With hundreds of thousands of members and $25 billion in live sales leads posted (yes I said billion and they post new leads every day) this is why www.Salespider.com is one of the fastest growing social network sites for professionals and SOHOs.
It's a great example of Web 2.0, with plenty of great tools and features.
I use it to look for leads, career opportunities and to connect with others who are looking to make connections for business in just about any category you can think of!
A great site and I would like to nominate www.salespider.com for your awards!
category #7: netvibes.com
Since this is really the page I can't live without.
category #3: blinklist.com
Since I finally use some online bookmarking.
category #9: last.fm
The only site, which gathers audio statistics and makes the community, I liked. I'm not into that `chat and chat` kind of thing, but the last.fm really finds me music and people I want to hear and know.
Thank you.
It's the best site I've ever found, where people get together without counting background, race or all that - for one reason, to remix and share remixes ! I came across this page while downloading WMP plugins. And when I got redirected to YS, I enjoyed every second of it.
The YS team even take the trouble to get to know their fellow members !! It's amazing - the fact that you have a team of helpers - at least one, if not all - who'd be there 24/7.
I've only been active over the past two months, but well... no regrets, no turning back. I'd nominate http://www.yourspins.com - the best of all music sites !
Music
I would also like to nominate StyleFeeder (http://www.stylefeeder.com/) for the Social Shopping category. Just last week, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen became part of the social shopping community, so you can check out all of the cool things they have in their StyleFeeder badges. Very cool.
http://wadja.com for category #11
It's an online calendar. But it goes way beyond that. It's fast. It's so easy to use. It helps me stay in touch with friends (I can see what my buddies are up to, which is cool).
It has this really innovative feature called the "one box." You know how in traditional calendars you have to click on the day, then the time, then type in your appointment, set a reminder, etc, etc. Well, with 30boxes, it's intelligent. There's a big text-box at the top that you just type plain english in to and it figures out the rest. So when I type "Lunch with Mary next Wendesday at 3pm) it automatically creates the entry in the right place at the right time like magic!! :)
The features go on and on. There's a feature called "Web-Top" that acts like a little desktop application. You can have a mini view of your calendar as well as "panels" that you can set up to show various websites or things... That way you can have more of your information in one place.
30boxes is lovely. They're constantly adding new features, doing speed upgrades, keeping users in the loop, and everyone who seems to RUN the site just seem like such cool people.
If you feel you need some organization in your life (and who doesn't?), 30boxes.com might just end up being the best thing that has ever happened to you.

WHAT IF 82.5 MILLION people belonged to the same demographic?
WHAT IF 33.3 MILLION people of the demographic were online everyday?
WHAT IF $1.6 Trillion was spent by the demographic per year?
WHAT IF 4 MILLION people joined the demographic every year?
WHAT IF 80% of ALL family spending was controlled by the demographic?
WHAT IF Every single person on earth was associated with the demographic?
Bikespace.net for categories 4 & 12!
It's both. We'll have a panel of judges *and* a community vote (the "People's Choice") - two separate lists of winners and one overall winner. We also have some ideas to prevent the community vote from being skewed too far. Keep nominating!

A great experience about listening and makin' music
FTW!
Only launched in the UK this week, due to launch in the States in the New Year and still in its very early stages with a few teething problems, but a really cool idea and attracting a lot of national media interest. It also has new technology built into it which enables you to open multiple windows and move them around your screen so you can look at numerous profiles at the same time. Haven’t seen another matching site that can do this. This is currently available on Mozilla and will be very soon on IE.
Take a look at the STORY OF THE MONTH on the front page to get an idea of how skill swapping works.

Cherada.com
It is a social network for El Salvador and latins
FTW!
I second the nomination - Reverb rocks! I've seen/heard some really great bands and new music through the site. Love it!
I want to nominate the folks at ReverbNation.com for giving a powerful voice to up-and-coming musicians who haven't had that voice before.
The site's amazing and has exposed me to bands I'd never would have known if it weren't for the help Reverb gives them in marketing themselves and connecting them with the industry. Too often, it's the band-by-committee that gets the hype (and cash) regardless of their talent. Now, the truly gifted have that opportunity to earn the audience and marketing exposure they deserve.
Go ReverbNation.com !

Easy to start but with lots of options and a really interactive way to share and enjoy music.
Innovative, fun and cool
A little limited but very enjoyable. I'm very impressed by the interface: despite the complexity of the task, it's uncluttered and instantly useable. An example to us all.
This is the best site ever for mommies - whether new moms, expecting moms, saavy moms, step moms, grandmas - any moms. This is the site we've all been waiting for. I've never seen a site so compassionate and well run as this one.
This is by far the best site for moms to get together and exchange ideas, post diaries, share pics. They have fun stuff as well and it's the first place I log onto each day. Kudos to connectingmoms - I hope they win because they are the best.

vote : HOBNOBSTER
The site was launched this year but already has all kinds of functionality - blogging, audio/video, pictures, classifieds, polls, groups, etc., as well as tons of unique content such as articles and podcasts. If you want to meet some quality, dedicated sports fans, YSF is the place to be!
I'd put it in the Niche category. But maybe with Music category as a second.
I accidently posted my nomination in the vote section.
To sum up why this site is the best...
They are are not just another ESPN. News and stats are impotant, and they have that, but if you want a real community of great sporst fans, YourSportsFan.com is it.
I want to nominate Pickle.com for photo and video sharing. it is great!
i also vote for myspace overall!
The best little network for connecting business people.
Disclaimer: I'm CTO.
A new website that is moving hiphop in the direction it needs to go. Inspiring and entertaining.
I love how warm and inviting this site is for all moms! You never have to worry about what you post there! It's my world and I love it!

Audacious in its simplicity. Shows how social networks will be used (profitably) by television properties in the coming years.
You also should have interactive games/worlds on this list. They are social networks of a sort and may portend how interactive and deep this space may become in the future (Second Life or WoW anyone?).
Brilliant idea to reach out to mothers nationally and globally
My vote goes to Connectingmoms because they serve a purpose I have come to rely upon. I wasn't looking for companionship, I was looking for a qualified resource for information and discussion about issues that I take very seriously, and they give it to me.
www.tonethis.com for mobile
www.veeker.com for mobile
www.pubwalk.com for events
hands down!
I nominate velvetpuffin. It for mobile catagory 11. It can do everything from chatting, bloggin, photo sharing, and video sharing, it's a social network site you can access on your phone and computer.

Think myspace, youtube, flickr PLUS live shows and live user broadcasts. Its not like boring old myspace where you see a few pictures someone took a year ago, you open the profile and BOOM theres the person live right there! Plus you can see all their audio, videos, photos, etc.
