We've got it going on down the road here in Portland, too!

Seattle is a fantastic place (recently named by Fast Company the best city in the country). Certainly if I ever left Boulder, Seattle would be on my short list of place to live.

    Congrats to everyone listed!

*cough, cough* Boulder rocks so much more! *cough, cough*

No Biznik.com? It's definitely one of my favorite sites. Founders Dan McComb and Lara Felton have rocked the indie entrepreneur world with this incredibly cool and useful network that's connects self employed professionals on and offline. Their cheeky tagline is: business networking that doesn't suck... now who can resist that? ;)

I am surprised/disappointed that Penny Arcade is not mentioned. They are one of the largest web comics, and have a huge festival every year PAX (50,000 attendees last year), with another occurring in Boston 2010.

    Ben,
It's a honor to be on a list with so many amazing and brilliant social media minds here in Seattle. We may not have many big nationally recognized social media names here, but part of that has to do with the humble nature of the crowd in Seattle.

Social Media Club Seattle will do everything we can to continue to advance the social media message, and I can't wait to see what develops in the next few months!

    Thanks for the great article!
    Kevin

I'm really surprised there are no social media agencies (example @springcreekgrp) or news organizations on this list. If I remember correctly, @moniguzman keeps a list of local news people. Also, there are groups like the Eastsiders on Twitter that I'm surprised weren't listed. No worries though. I know that not every single person can be listed. ;-)

Of course, I'm on Twitter :-D

'Pacific Northwest Networking' on LinkedIn and Facebook is Run by two of Seattle's premier recruiters who provide a platform for others in the HR profession, Hiring Managers and Candidates to congregate across all of the social networking platforms. It is their founding believe that it is important to use social media to make connections, but to then to step away from the computer and make a real connection. The type of connection that will carry you to your next career opportunity and life goal.

It was fun to meet some of your members on Wednesday evening during the meeting at Elysian Brewery. One of the great advantages of the Greater Seattle area, a lot of great people willing to rub elbows. Keep up the great work

Nice list, but you missed a few: Lee and Sachi Lefever of CommonCraft, Nancy White of Full Circle Associates, Brian Fling of Flingmedia, Bre Pettis, etc, etc. Corporate folks like Jordan Williams of REI. And companies like Conenza, Newsvine, and others, social media-focused agencies like Spring Creek Group, and more.

Looks like you got a roster of the boards of the local professional orgs but missed the thought leaders and innovators who aren't on that list...

Ben: Thanks for mentioning us as a resource for entrepreneurs. Also want to thank Spring Creek Group (@springcreekgrp) for helping us get the word out. Thx. - Rebecca (@NWEN_org)

Seattle is definitely a vibrant social media hub. There are so many events I can't get to them all.

If you are interested in innovation, you should check out Seattle's @innovate - your source for interesting innovation and conversational marketing tweets. @innovate is the Twitter account of Blogging Innovation - one of the world's leading innovation blogs - http://blogginginnovation.com

    Ben,

Thank you so much for featuring Social Media Club Seattle. I echo Kevin Urie's comment. We're striving to be a great source of information for everyone interested in social media in the greater Puget Sound area, and we always welcome feedback from practitioners and newcomers.

As stated in all comments in this thread, there are so many great social media minds. We're so lucky here in Seattle. Everyone has been generously sharing and learning, and that's what it's all about.

I look forward to reading more articles from your "social media hub" series, and learn from what other cities are doing. Thanks again!

Eric - I keep a Seattle Twitter Index. It always needs tweaking, but it does have a pretty up-to-date list of local news organizations on Twitter:

Also - Always good to see this city's particular brand of innovation and social energy recognized. Seattle rocks.

Nice profile series. When are you going to do DC? I head Social Media Club DC and we have something like 800 members, and there are a ton of wonderful social media people here. Very successful start-up community, a ton of government and healthcare 2.0 people and more. Hope DC is coming soon :)

This article sucks. You profiled a few people whose Twitter feeds are LAME and I know for a fact they were involved in giving you the info for this article. If you want to know who is doing a good job in Seattle ask Seattle... not just one "main woman" who tweets for SMC Seattle who actually isn't a Twitter queen at all. LAME that you left out so many of our Seattle superstars and just profiled some pretty low level people in social media.
