I'm proud to be in such esteemed company! Boston has always been strong on applications of technology, though we let the Valley steal the technology development crown some years ago.

Two additions to your list would be Sermo, the very successful social network for physicians, and Waltham-based ZoomInfo, which has created an innovative engine for people search. I'd also mention Eons, a social network for Boomers that has built quite a following and which is led by Monster.com founder Jeff Taylor.

Re: Social Media Hub: Boston

also check out the great work being done at the aids.gov site, designed and implemented by the Boston-based public health firm, John Snow, Inc.

Re: Social Media Hub: Boston

Speaking of "Hubs", don't miss Twitter's own Biz Stone in beantown tomorrow at HubSpot HQ -- http://bizinboston.eventbri...

Re: Social Media Hub: Boston

Thanks so much for including me on this illustrious list! "Wicked awesome?" We'll take it :)

Nice to see so many movers & shakers out there. Proud to be on the same page as these folks.

Re: Social Media Hub: Boston

Larry, are you for real? "Many of the people you mention i find uninfluential?" Who cares?

SHIFT is great, but there are plenty of PR firms working in social media in the Boston area that do as good a job. Laura Fitton has a professional relationship with SHIFT and you should have noted that -- since she helped you identify some of the names and events included in this post. (I can't imagine she recommended herself, or that Brogan recommended himself either, but it's a little weird the way you put it since they are both profiled in the piece).

Other than that, good job.

Re: Social Media Hub: Boston

Great post. So many great people are working and innovating around here that it must have been pretty tough to narrow the list down. Kudos though.
