What a crock of shite, why would I want an already terrible bloated bit of software (that has never exited once and always hangs) bloating still further with a bunch of stuff I use anyway.

Why don't app makers concentrate on making their apps quick and light weight so they do their job properly ...

It ALWAYS happens; ppl have nice idea then try and max user base by adding every pointless piece of rubbish possible.

Not that iTunes has ever been nice; slow, ugly and never quits it just hangs.

nice rumormill... hopefully it will eventually do anything and everything we can think of. thought it was funny there was a blackberry ad opposite this article when i read it. and the kicker was the ad was touting the amazingness of the blackberry to handle media... i am fairly sure know one clicked it while reading this article =P

I don't think I want iTunes tweeting every song that plays, my twitterstream would look like a complete mess. I would rapidly unfollow someone who tweets a new song/notification every 5 minutes. That's not to say there aren't other interesting integration ideas (recommend songs/albums, iTunes / blippr/ twitter reviews in realtime, tweet smart playlist ideas, etc.), but the most obvious also seems the most useless.

it'll be interesting if iTunes dives into the social media space on the heels of already established entities. in reality, they could start their own internal network (the semblance already exists with the reviews section)

Personally, I don't really want to know what everyone is playing at every second of the day. Obviously there will be some sort of filter, and it won't just tweet every song I change... but I really don't think it's necessary

The ability to organize iPhone apps via iTunes is very exciting and a natural evolution of a wildly successful industry-leading initiative. Once users start thinking a little more logically about WHY they use certain apps - they will undoubtedly find new ones to fill holes and overall this should re-energize app purchases and usage.

I'm also very excited about the potential social media integration. Publishing what you're listening to on iTunes has been available on popular IM clients for a while - and publishing the same info via Facebook or Twitter is brilliant. But, there's already some iTunes/Facebook integration going on the official iTunes Facebook page @ http://facebook.itunes.com/K9Z

Well, now I guess the iTunes 9 installer will be around 160Mb and will create around a gazillion folders and subfolders on one's hard-drive. This is some serious bloatware!

Here's to hoping it allows me specific backups (and *restore*) of iPhone stuff: SMS, Call History, Voicemail AND individual app settings. Oh, and selecting iPhoto events as well (last 20 is quite pointless, and syncing smart folders doesn't sync the individual events) :/

Also, I'd like to be able to send receive SMS/MMS from iTunes (via iPhone)... Not expecting that... :/

TO all: Blu-ray is invented by Philips (from the Netherlands, the same company who invented both the CD and DVD) with HELP, I say again, help from Sony.

and yes, we definitely can say Blu-ray is coming to the mac and iTunes, why, open up your current installation of iTunes (should be 8.2 or higher) goto the about option in the menu, and read the scrolling text, just past "MPEG Layer-3 .... bla bla bla" you'll see a line that reads: "cd, dvd ..." and then yes, then, Blu-ray. So current iTunes has support for Blu-ray. Mind you, this is only support for recognizing the movie you put in your computer, like cddb /freedb is for audio cd's.

iPhone app sorting will be in iTunes, how do I know? Simple since iPhone OS 3.0 iTunes remembers App locations, (you should know this), so if you do a restore and made a backup before, iTunes will make sure that Apps are put back in the same location, sorting in iTunes is a natural follow-up to that feature.

Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm integration seems doubtful, but in my opinion should enhance your iTunes experience significantly and I'd might be a way for apple to take on competition with services like imeem which are more focussed on the social part, rather than on the music part on which said service is based or I'd might be in-league with those reports about the upcoming music project Apple is working on with major labels to boost whole album sales in iTunes, then again it might be just that: a rumor and nothing more.

Something that could make me consider iTunes would be the ability to convert files on the fly to MP3 (if they are FLAC), if they are MP3, leave them alone, then sync with iPhone etc.

Twitter/Last.fm/Facebook integration? /Yawn.

Presumably the Facebook and Twitter integration would be similar to what currently happens when you run the Last.fm client linked to iTunes - the name and artist of the track you're currently playing gets published. Possibly they might extend it to support extra info for podcasts and video content, including TV shows and movies, and perhaps stuff you purchase from the iTunes store, although that last one might require extra privacy settings so people can choose what they want the world to know about their buying, watching and listening habits...
