    sucks

    facebook is garbage
  • Chris Charabaruk · 5 months ago
Sure they suck, but at least they're trying some improvements out. This'll certainly be better than the current inbox, although they're still far from winning me back.

Interesting, I wonder if any of this is ever going to trickle over the iPhone's app. It is lacking a ton of features..... I think the read/unread will be helpful

    Very cool feature rolled out.

"Alas, Facebook apparently realizes this is starting to become a problem..."

I don't think the word "alas" means what you think it means.

Remove the inbox and put it as a scrollable and searchable RSS-Feed

It is about time! With so many ways to communicate, do people still revert to email messages? Text message or Direct Message on Twitter seems faster.

Facebook is trying to play catch-up with Multiply, but Multiply's inbox still rocks harder than Facebook's latest update.

I don't visit Facebook any more. I can ping updates there so my friends know what I'm up to, and if they reply I see it in my email. I don't feel any need to be there in person. When a site becomes more of a pain than an asset, that's when I drop it. Using Facebook compared to using Multiply is like driving a horse and buggy compared to driving a DeLorean. Facebook is a bloated whale that's a pain in the neck to use. I don't bother any more.

Facebook is quivering in their boots, no doubt
  • barefootmeg · 5 months ago
Whether they quiver or not certainly has nothing to do with the point I was making. God bless 'em, they can become the largest and most profitable site on the internet for all I care. More power to them. But unless they can make their product work as well as some of the other social networking sites out there, it's simply not a site that I'm personally going to continue using. I've been on the site for several years and I have to admit that finding old friends was fun for a time. But once you've found them, what next? Facebook really isn't a site designed for intense conversations or prolonged interactions, in my opinion. You poke and move on and that's simply not what I'm looking for in a social networking website.

Allow users to reply from their own email - amazing idea - the amount of times I click reply then remember grr.

Glad the inbox is being overhauled - it really needs it.

I'd like to see better organisation - let me tag or color code things like in thunderbird. Stuff I need to action can be red, stupid emails from mates I can code green etc. Star things I need to reply to later.

fb inbox is still flawed, needs to let me tag/keyword, and let me cut to threads via a profile (e.g. 'conversations with X' below user pic in upper left)

Wish Facebook gives users a public email address soon so that it would allow a user not only to exchange messages with other Facebook users but also to the outside world (imap, pop3) and let us read the message through facebook web page, imap and smtp.

Hear, hear! My friends have taken to using Facebook message to replace email, and it's driving me batty. I want all of my emails consolidated in a single account, not tied to the specific social network of the day.
