Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Photoshop for iPhone is Free and Awesome

    I almost peed my pants.
  • facebook-587886562 · 2 months ago
    Price: A (free!)
    Photo Editing: A
Sharing: Fail - only Photoshop.com sharing. How could a mobile photo app be called awesome that does not let you post to FB or twitter?

"Best Camera" costs $2.99, but has similar photo editing and far superior sharing functionality:
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/...
  • infomofo · 2 months ago
even worse- when you upload the pics to photoshop.com it loses resolution, EXIF data, and geotagging.

    The editing is awesome though.
  • diablo · 1 month ago
All photo apps strip exif and geotagging. Apple does not permit this to be saved for some reason.
  • infomofo · 1 month ago
The Flickr app manages to do it somehow.
  • Butters · 2 months ago
If it saves the photo to your "iPhone's Photo collection", as the article says, then why can't you email the photo or share on FC and Twitter from there?
  • diablo · 1 month ago
Because, well, that would require a little extra work! I prefer that way anyway because with the new FB app, I want to be able to choose which album the picture gets uploaded too.

Haha, that's why you lost the war.
  • Sam · 2 months ago
Erm - The UK won the war, think you need to check your history facts out.
  • wfpman · 1 month ago
Sigh. OK US won the war for independence. But you guys whipped us bat in the War of 1812 though Andrew Jackson saved the day in the end.

Create an US account and download the app. You can also sync the app to your iPhone with your exisiting UK Account (once you have downloaded it from US Account). I am from UK, I have already downloaded it and works great on my iPhone.. have also synched it to iTunes!

  • Justin · 2 months ago

  • craighuff · 2 months ago
This is awesome. It looks like I won't be using PhotoGene that much anymore.
  • blakeurmos · 2 months ago
    any plans for Android?
  • Robbie Sherman · 1 month ago
You should try picsay pro for Android. Really good editing tool. Has tons of options, filters, brushes, stamps. Upload to any other service you have on your Android, ie facebook, flickr, twitter apps, gmail.
  • recklesslover · 2 months ago
Where are all the cool pics, Mashable? haha I reviewed this already here:

    http://recklesslove.me/post/208610479/photoshop...

You can do lots with it. The quality of the app is awesome.
  • ellerizer · 2 months ago
Nice, but though it was a mobile version of Photoshop CS3 - that would be awesome.
  • Hesham · 2 months ago
iPhone is doing great, it's a must to have and will get one soon!
  • Nathan Driskell · 2 months ago
While it's handy (and free), this app has fewer features than I expected. It seems built for non-Photoshop users. I hope Adobe has plans for a more robust version in the future, I had my hopes up for some sort of marquee or lasso select features. Also, there is no auto-save, so taking a call trashes your current editing session.

Initial impression: Fast, easy, free, but plenty of room for improvement.
  • Monika Runstrom · 2 months ago
It took me awhile to find it because it is under the name Photoshop.com Mobile. Searching for just the term photoshop didn't pull it up.
  • debbyvd · 2 months ago
Not available in the Netherlands #fail
  • Aleksandre Asatiani · 2 months ago
Is it in Europe already or not? Can't find it in AppStore....
  • ivinay · 1 month ago

    My balls tingle.
  • wfcnate · 2 months ago
This is one more thing that is going to take me away from photoshop on the trusty desktop at work! Apple I love thee
  • WhitneyPannell · 2 months ago
Thanks for the tip will download now

Not available apart from in the US. A American Designer is the same as a British Designer, they're both human and both use Photoshop, why do big corporations like Adobe always try to segregate people based on borders - why can't they learn to treat us all as equals. What is the point on making non-US markets wait apart from just being irritating. If US exports dropped just 1%, 170,000 American people will lose their jobs, a fact from the US Chamber of Commerce.
  • ivinay · 1 month ago
This isn't Photoshop on iPhone but Photoshop.com Mobile on iPhone. Currently Photoshop.com is open to US Residents only, although you can create a free US iTunes account and downlod them. :o) Hope this helps.. am from UK and already am using it http://tr.im/Bgur

This is definitely a nice photo editing application for the iPhone. Most of them are basic and don't get the job done.
  • Bizarreon · 2 months ago
    Thats pretty damn cool
  • thenewsintern · 1 month ago
epic win for the iphone. it's a great editor.
  • lia84 · 1 month ago
Check out this cool photo tagging software called Fotobounce! It can help you sort your images using face recognition! It can also download & tag your photos from facebook & flickr! You can get it for free at: www.Fotohotline.com

I tried it and found it highly disappointing. Yes it's free but you get what you pay for. The filters are too severe and the results very disappointing. I bet that's why every review of this app shows the same Adobe (I assume) provided images.

Compared to Camerabag, Tiltshift Generator, Best Camera, or Photogene about the only thing photoshop.com has going for it is image rotation and crop (and that just seems really sluggish and awkward on my 3 GS.

I've already taken it off my phone.
  • diablo · 1 month ago
Agreed. For basic editing, you can't go wrong. But you cannot adjust the strength of the filters and that's a huge fail. I like the Tiffen's Photo FX app. Tons of filters and all can be customized.
  • Druckerpatronen · 1 month ago
    Superb application!
I check this out and its seems outstanding application.
  • jeu educatifs · 1 month ago
I can see a lot of good uses for this applications, aside from the "hey mom look at me" photos.

For businesses that have installers or other services employees, being able to share a bunch of onsite images with the office staff is a big plus. You could always email them, although having the ability to send them to a server can work better for most business processes. Adobe could improve the app, by simply adding the a method of drawing on the photo. Other Apps have this already, and the feature is quite useful.

The filters are a bit gimmicky, with the quality of photos taken on the iphone. But, hey it can't be all work all the time.

Unless you have a valid funding source based in the US, like a bank account, then you can't create a US ITunes account. Correct ?
  • William McCamment · 1 month ago
I just downloaded it and will give it a try. Maybe now I can stop trying every dumbass photo editing app that comes out. So far, none of them are very good.

I love Photoshop for my desktop, let's hope the iPhone app is awesome too!
  • Simon · 1 month ago
    Not available in Sweden :'(
  • Steve · 1 month ago
That is a great app that I didn't see coming. With the regular price being in the hundreds it is quite a service to users.
  • jaypiddy · 1 month ago
This is one of the weakest iPhone photo apps on the market. There are some many out there that are 10 times better. Free does not always mean good. This app is so broken it's not funny. I thought that the number one photo editing software company could have done better. Maybe in V2.0.
  • Arun · 1 month ago
When I have awesome photo editing features preloaded in my nokia 5800, why would I take the pain of installing this basic software that interests people not becoz of functionality but by its name and authors?
  • barringtonarch · 1 month ago
    i agree. awesum!
