Yes, Radian6 pulls this data and it can be exceedingly enlightening when applied to SM strategy and overall messaging, targeting etc. What makes it interesting is that Omniture (best in class for years in web analytics) is stepping way off it's terra firma here and into a potentially interesting competitive brawl with he Radian6's, Visible Technologies, Scout Labs, TNS/Cymfonys etc. of the world.

Now if they can get their excel plugin to not time out. Or their site to perform a tad bit faster. Or not have any more 16 hour data latency issues. Beginning 2009 has not been the best for you guys.

This type of up-to-date analysis should be really helpful to a lot of major brand managers, agencies and PR firms, so adding this functionality to Ste Catalyst was a nice move.
Biz360 is the one player in the reputation space that may have been missed. They do social media including Twitter, but they also do traditional media and opinion leader media. They weight for reach and impact - ie the NYT or WSJ has more impact that tweets. They use a very quantitative approach to analysis of comments with natural language processing and scoring for emotive intensifiers. The all tweets are equal approach will give way to this type of quantitative, Google Page Rank approach in the end..

We dropped Ominture due to poor customer support. Honestly if your site isn't making over $50 mil, they couldn't care less about you. Guess the $2K a month they were getting from us wasn't enough.

Twitter is commonly included by the social media analysis companies (43 of 62 in my August 2008 survey). It's interesting, though, to see the cross-pollination of social media analysis and web analytics. The combination has potential.

This is a cool idea. But, two very important things.
First, in Omniture's blog post, they said this is NOT a feature - just an idea they're working with, and they gave a demonstration of it at some conference.
Second, this post doesn't really belong on Mashable, because Omniture's target audience is NOT people who read Mashable. Just like you said, their clients are "AOL, Microsoft, Oracle, and eBay" - e.g, companies that have no problems throwing thousands of dollars per month down the drain for Omniture's sub-par product with horrible customer support. These are not people who read Mashable, so this post is nothing for anyone here to get excited about.

Jennifer - the team at Omniture is very much paying attention to how social data can augment the web analytic info the already provide to their 5100 clients. Visible Technologies announced a partnership with them in December of last year. Look for more interesting developments from the two of us in the future.

Anything that gets this kind of mass use will be a candidate for integration into CRM and analytics packages (e.g. SalesForce's ServiceCloud being an example).
I really like the idea of being able to get alerts sent for relative increases/decreases in activity though. Very cool.
