Mashable - The Social Media Guide: New Moon Takes Over MySpace

One more reason to avoid MySpace.

Cool. Nothing smart to say here. I'm not a hater.

The movie looks pretty cool, actually.

Edit: MySpace's entertainment strategies are actually pretty solid. I like the "Artist on Artist" featurettes.

Definitely, Its almost a hit like Harry Potter but in my opinion this series will be strong contender

It would just make me angry and disgusted having to look at that all the time. Good job I don't use MySpace.

Actually looking forward to seeing the movie, but what MySpace is doing here is NOTHING new. At all. They get these ad deals constantly -- and the front page is decorated with whatever movie is the next big release. They do it with music releases as well, and have been securing these deals for a long time now.

It isn't a sign of "what's to come" with MySpace. We all know what they are, and they've settled just fine into music profiling and getting that content out there for free.

good points ... the takeover just seems like a fitting culmination of all the other content and such they've had leading up to it.
  • Kristin · 1 month ago
Yeah, I do agree that it's fitting. They've found their niche and they need to nurture it

the irony is, they JUST got that twitter account. Yes- 2 weeks out for the 2nd movie's release and they just decide twitter is important.

not so sure their social networking is as good as it should be:)

This isn't really a rebuttal, just a thought. The fans of the series are very, very heavily involved in using social media to promote everything from the books to the movies. Perhaps since they were already doing the work, Summit thought, eh, why bother? And just note, that while there wasn't an official movie Twitter account, the director used his own as what I would assume Summit would have. Half the time, the fan-run communities have better info anyways.

It'd be stupid just to depend on fans to get the word out solely, but with how fast they seem to catch everything and then push it out to other fans, I'm not sure Summit could keep up.

Myspace has become a revenue stream for movies, anabolic steroids and lame Fox TV shows.

    Social networking FAIL.

[Some] people are way too snobby about MySpace. Elitist brats that take the FB Vs. MySpace thing way too seriously. It's three times as large as Twitter folks. Despite the fact the Mashable, RWW, and TechCrunch have claimed it dead for two years now. Just stop being such *ssholes about MySpace.
