Mashable - The Social Media Guide: New Mashable Features: Meebo Chat, Drag to Share on Twitter and Facebook

  • Jenna Barton · 3 months ago
Loving this new feature--I saw it just the other day and it surprised me. I dragged an image on a whim and this rad toolbar popped up. Normally extraneous things like that bother me, and I figure if I like something, I'll tweet it on my own accord, but this toolbar had nice, smooth design and was--well, to be frank--just plain cool. :) Excellent work, I love the new feature.

Cool new feature...but it feels mega-bugged in Firefox.
  • Zee. · 3 months ago
I don't want to start bad blood between us Pete, but i hope you saw this tweet from earlier http://twitter.com/Zee/status/3739467182 .
  • Pete · 3 months ago
    Hey Zee,

I saw Adam's tweet and assumed it went to the report, but didn't recognize the tnw.to domain so switched it out for the familiar bit.ly. Didn't realize that is your own shortener and he was linking to you and not the report (I try to avoid unfamiliar shortURLs in our tweets cos they could break at a later date).

No bad blood required: I'll just go RT it direct from you. Sorry for the error.
  • Zee. · 3 months ago
Thanks Pete, that was really good of you. @Patrick was just saying this weekend how cool a fella you were, so yeah - was surprised. Look forward to meeting one day.

    I love it!

But you guys are really killing me with that intense drop shadow that appears when I hover over images and videos now. It's like you're stabbing me in my eyes with sporks!
  • adamhirsch · 3 months ago
I concur Jimmy... I'll see what I can do for you...
  • Emma · 3 months ago

  • Andrew MacDonald · 3 months ago
Very clever, i was going to ask what plugin you was using to do this so i can add it to my own site until i saw it was meebo at the bottom of your post. I shall certainly be looking into it :)

Looks like a very cool and advanced technologically feature but i cant try it, something goes wrong. could it be my Firefox?
  • Danny from Meebo · 3 months ago
Hello, what kinds of issues are you seeing? Happy to help troubleshoot.
  • Σχολή Χορού · 3 months ago
I couldn't find where to drag the media to, but i got it now, the screen turns black and there are the icons. Thank you for offering your help.
  • Danny from Meebo · 3 months ago
    No problem!
  • Pete · 3 months ago
To the guy complaining about his comments not showing up - please don't post links to porn sites. You appear to be trying to make genuine commentary but our readers don't like stumbling on porn when they click links in comments.

hey all, i'm one of the founders of meebo. just wanted to thank everyone in advance for their feedback on the meebo bar on mashable (and thank pete, sharon, adam h, adam o, frederick and chris for launching it!). this is a very new product for us, and we've only had the version of the bar that works on content sites out for less than a couple of weeks, so we're very much still learning. i'm sure there's no way we've got it 100% right, so any comments, please do leave them. we'll be fast following with features we grab from everyone's suggestions. thanks much!
  • ryan · 3 months ago
Hey, do you have a link to this new feature to learn more about it...or install on my own site? I work at an Interactive shop and everyone loved it.
  • Harsh Agrawal · 3 months ago

  • Enk. · 3 months ago

You guys always up with something new..
I'm following Mashable since it was a small portal. Having stuff like Msn Display pictures, addons, wallpapers etc.
    long live Mashable ! ;)

  • lazygirlsinfo · 3 months ago
How do I get this widget on my site? All the meebo site has is a email address to contact.

Is it free or do you have to pay for it?
  • Ryan Lalonde · 3 months ago
Yeah a lot of websites are getting this feature now. It's a very nice feature tho! :D
  • Silencio Barnes · 3 months ago
It looks to me like you're just trying to keep us stuck on this damn site for just a few more minutes :P
  • Todd Holmes · 3 months ago
Pointless and annoying. Is it really that hard to share an URL? Thankfully I just discovered ABP is also a great Meebo blocker.
  • iquanyin · 3 months ago
    the drag-to-share is wonderful!
  • dainathomas · 3 months ago

  • radiology · 3 months ago
TechCrunch as of the time of this comment appears to have taken the MeeboBar down.. I don't see it there... hmmm
  • Fuzz One · 3 months ago
When I saw it early this week, I was like WOW.
    Great innovation Meebo!
  • Brad F. · 3 months ago
Neat photo/video sharing feature. I don't much see the point of the bar along the bottom, unless of course you're browsing from work.
  • Chris Jackson · 3 months ago

  • Mrs. Muna Habib. · 3 months ago
    Assalamn aleikum

I am Mrs. Muna Habib from South Africa, married to Alhaji Habib Nasser who was until his death an exporter of antiquities based in Cote d'ivoire, we were married for eleven years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only two weeks. Before his death
    we were both faithful Muslims.

Since his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my
matrimonial home which the holly Quaran is against. When my late
husband was alive he deposited the sum of ($3.5 Million U.S. Dollars)
in one the famous financial institutions here in Abidjan capital of
    Cote d'ivoire.

Recently my doctor confirmed to me that I have serious sickness which
is cancer problem. The one that disturbs me most is my stroke
    sickness.

Having known my condition I decided to donate this money to an Islamic
institution or individual that will utilize this money the way I am
going to instruct herein. I want a muslim that will use this money for
orphanage homes, hospitals, mosque, schools, and propagation of the
word of the mighty Allah and to endeavour that the house of almighty
Allah is maintained. The holly Quaran made us to understand that
Blessed is the hand that gives.

I took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit
this money and my husband relatives are not Muslims and I don't want
my husband's effort to be used by unbelievers. I don't want a
situation whereby this money will be used in an unGodly way. This is
why I am taking this decision.
I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I
am going to be in the bosom of the almighty Allah. As stated in the
holly Quaran (Surah xxxvi Yasin) Thou wariest only him who followeth
the reminder and feareth the beneficent in secret to him bear tiding
of forgives and a rich reward.

I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my
health hence the presence of my husband's relatives around me always.
I don't want them to know about this development. With almighty Allah
    all things are possible.

As soon as I receive your reply I will direct you on how this vission
will be realised. I want you and the Islamic institution to always
pray for me because the almighty Allah is my shepherd.  My happiness
is that I lived a life of a worthy Muslim. Whoever that wants to serve
the almighty Allah must serve him in spirit and truth.

Please always be prayerful all through your life. Any delay in your
reply will give me room to sourcing another Islamic institution or a
good muslim for this same purpose.
Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein.

    Your Sister in the Islam.
    Mrs. Muna Habib.

Great feature. Pete can't you filter these spam messages before been posted? It is so irritating. Looks like Firefox has got a bug, it does not seem to work for me. Apart from that it is a great tool.
