My browser keeps connecting to my knowledge in any case, so they do not mind using my e-mail.
It is common practice for many websites that allow users to enter, or by e-mail address or username. People use their e-mail to subscribe to things all the time.

Rule 348 of interweb registrations. Don't use your school account to sign up for anything you think you might want to be using after you graduate and no longer have access to the account. Especially if that email address is going to get assigned as the method of logging in.

This is a great advancement for Facebook because I can agree that having a consistent username is a lot easier to remember then trying to remember if it's a email address you have or a username. Plus, especially for students, those emails can get quite long! It's just more convenient this way. And in this time, convenience and speed is priority.

Login done right. I love that facebook is constantly impoving itself. It shows that you guys aren't just "setting and forgetting it". You are continuosly raising the bar for modern big-name websites. Now if only you could fix those random chat, photo viewing, status updating errors we have all had at least once...

Actually, I think it's easier to remember my email address rather than my username. But to each their own. I've got a ton of user names but only one main email address.

Why does Linux require you to enter username & password while M$ only requires password? Linux is more secure. If someone is trying to break into your account they have to guess two pieces of indentification rather than just one. Every website out their should allow you to sign up with an email but require that you choose a username.
