I got mine when they were launched back in the day!!! I got my Twitter one first though; I also @relied on Twitter first 2. Trust me it doesn't matter what I say, they're on a roll with 300 million users!!!! Twitter 18million. Go figure! I can't wait to hear more about the Twitter & google integration & how they r going to compete agaisnt facebook! This is what makes innovation amazing! :)

I don't know if that is a true statement. People use their email address to sign up for stuff all the time. Not to mention when they give it to people. People's email addresses are user names too, just for a different site. So they have to know their email address (or at least the first part) to log into their email.

Logging in with my username doesn't work for me; I logged out, and tried to log back in w/ my user name, and it gives me an error message saying my email/password is incorrect; it won't take anything but my email addy and password. Wondering if it's a staggered rollout? Wondering if there is/will be an option somewhere so you can choose which one to login with? My email addy is actually shorter to use than my user name, so it probably won't matter for me.

Easier to remember? Are you an idiot? We generally all have one email address use we for social sites, not so for usernames.

Why does Linux require you to enter username & password while M$ only requires password? Linux is more secure. If someone is trying to break into your account they have to guess two pieces of indentification rather than just one. Every website out their should allow you to sign up with an email but require that you choose a username.

Login done right. I love that facebook is constantly impoving itself. It shows that you guys aren't just "setting and forgetting it". You are continuosly raising the bar for modern big-name websites. Now if only you could fix those random chat, photo viewing, status updating errors we have all had at least once...

This is a great advancement for Facebook because I can agree that having a consistent username is a lot easier to remember then trying to remember if it's a email address you have or a username. Plus, especially for students, those emails can get quite long! It's just more convenient this way. And in this time, convenience and speed is priority.

Rule 348 of interweb registrations. Don't use your school account to sign up for anything you think you might want to be using after you graduate and no longer have access to the account. Especially if that email address is going to get assigned as the method of logging in.
