I went with VUDU for my streaming needs. Netflix is spread thin with the mail distribution and now streaming. VUDU concentrates solely on movie streaming and they have pretty much perfected it.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

One thing that hasn't happened and I'm surprised that it hasn't is a partnership between Netflix and Comcast or other major cable provider to power more of Comcast's OnDemand movies. You could pay a monthly fee similar to what it does now or by movie/show. Buy a season pass for a show similar to TiVo, etc.

Also, Hulu has a lot of movie content and it's free and legal. Why pay for Netflix?

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

nice...it will be interesting to see where Netflix will go from here...collaboration with xbox was the best thing happen to them

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

If they improve the selection (and picture quality), it could be a big hit. When I was last on Netflix, the selection was lousy and it wasn't worth the time.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

I have the $8.99 plan with streaming. I think it's a really good deal if you don't mind the quality.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

You can also get streaming with the 1-at-a-time $8.99 option.

That is the plan I use and it has been a great deal so far.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

LOL...yes, their selection of 'watch now' movies isn't the best BUT once this service is offered, I would imagine it would include a majority, if not all, of the movies on their site. I just signed up for Netflix this week. It is tremendous. This is sorely needed-it will be HUGE.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

Honestly, I use streaming so much more often that the mail delivery that I am considering switching to this.

And @Ben, it's improving. Their selection is getting better every month, and they are working to get more titles and publishers available. If they do make a deal with Showtime and HBO there will be much more to watch. Which would be awesome since I love Dexter. But anyway, it has come a long way and is pretty reliable.

Re: Netflix To Offer Streaming as a Standalone Subscription Plan

Yeah this sounds great, the only problem is their selection of watch now movies sucks.
