I think layoutnerd.com is developing into a pretty sweet Myspace layout customizer.
Oh,and to jotd and Dee. You get rid of Myspace's layout by pressing reset in the editor. Then Save. It will then go back to whatever layout you had.

They've basically duplicated and therefore depracated realeditor.com, and I agree the resemblance is uncanny. Although kudos to MySpace -- it is amongst the best editor implementations.

The only compelling external MySpace editors now will be the WYSIWYG editors, like ProfileMine.

It definitely is an issue that this only works with IE, and that looks to be a trend with MySpace (their new photo tool also only works with IE). Is there any other major web business that doesn't have cross-platform and cross-browser functionality?

The reason MySpace is such a hit is that it connects EVERYONE. Ignoring the tech-savvy youth that made MySpace what it is today is asking for those tech-savvy youth to move to Facebook or another more inclusive service. MySpace is fast becoming The Gap of social networking, in a time when young people want American Apparel.

Smart move. Now they can cash in on skins. Bebo has had skins for a while and has an ad product called "featured sponsored skins". These work great for brand advertisers such as Skittles, who has seen millions of impressions of their skin on Bebo.

Anyone who has ever tried to skin a myspace page knows that their markup is crap. I think this tool they've released is a nice gesture for non savvy users but if they really wanted to improve the skinning process, they could start with a better naming convention for classes and some cleaner profile markup with well-placed hooks to work with. Seems like this will never change given the high number of existing CSS implementations on their site.

I wonder if they just dump the generated CSS into your "about me" section. That would be hilarious.

I used it once and it screwed up my page I can't use any other editor. and now when I try to use the editor windows tells me it does not support this object so it just sticks to the laoding zone.
and my page is all screwed up nothing works right plus half of my stuff is missing like my friends list is cut off and my comments are sliced aswell.
so I thhink I am going to have to erase my profile and start again(deep sigh)

I changed my profile using the official myspace page editor in profile settings but the official editor has dissapeared and it overrides any other profile editor that I try to use. I can't change my profile at all because the official profile editor link no longer exists in my profile. Originally it generated a code for you to paste into your profile but the last time I did it I saved it just changed my page permanently.

Any ideas from anyone?

i have the some problem okay idk how to delete or restart/reset my profile since i've used myspace profile eitor. i can't have a real background because of it like the image i put in the back ground, the text, the background color! all of that is the same i mean i can change it on the editor but not a real layout

Just go back to the myspace editor and press reset, then save. It will go back to your previous settings. then I recommend going to LayoutNerd.com. It is probably what you are looking for as a layout editor.

If you want the basic profile back, go to the official profile editor with ie and click on clear all. It'll take off any changes made with the editor, but everything that you yourself put it with codes will stay

The answer to removing the myspace editor "effect" is to: Enter Myspace editor>Select start or customize>then on the upper right hand side select "Clear All" (dont forget to save after you do this). This will leave you with whatever layout you have/had. such as if you tried to paste a new layout and you still have some effects from the myspace editor.. selecting clear all will remove those effects.

i tried that (clear all ) but then i tried to put another layout form a site into about mne, and then i clicked on profile but all u see is just the html, and then i tried puuting image codes and the same things, its as if profile editor disabled all the html!forver!!!!!!!!!! IM SO PISSED OFFPLEASE HELP.

OMG... did you guy see this this new profile editor "MYSTYLEZ"? It's so easy to make your own style and they got some awesome backgrounds. My favorite is that red and white one. Check it out

The same thing has just happened to me. I opened a new personal profile with My Space ( I already have a music profile)and I used Profile Editor and My Space Generators to customize my profile. I use Firefox, and had no idea that these worked better with Internet Installer, I was always under the impression that Firefox worked better with My Space in general. When I was adding some images to the profile, all my text including my comments have disappeared, and big thick red double borders have appeared around everything. The text is actually still there, it can be seen when the page first comes on, but then when the colour comes on, the text disappears under a block of black! I don't know how it happened! I have sent an email to My Space Generators at Mywackospace.com and there has been no reply, no help whatsoever.I might have to start all over again. What a pain! I would like to get my text back, if anyone has any ideas, would much appreciate it.

I'm trying to put a new layout on myspace page, but the profile theme beta I used before from myspace won't go away. I want a different layout from another site, but am having problems. I did put a new layout in, and now that profile flashes quickly and then jumps to my profile from the myspace profile editor. It looks as if I have 2 profile pages, even though I removed the new layout. How do I remove the myspace profile theme beta? Help!

ok, my problem is, i used the profile editor Beta when it first came out, i found a layout i liked, kept it..... well a couple of weeks later i go to change it, and the my profile themes button above edit my profile is gone, what am i to do?????????????????
i want a new layout.
i tried everything and all the solutions you guys gave dont work 4 me because the my profile themes button is g one.

oh, and i have even tried some technical coding stuff.
im good with computers

Three years of editing & tweaking my Profile down the tube It looked great now it sucks thanks to the new Myspace editor.... I put a chat box on one of my groups and it swapped my profile automatically to the new layout by Tom so far I cannot get my Original profile back..... BACK UP was on a file on another PC yeh great ..back up your files people
it will save a lot of frustration and work.....
