Seriously I'm gonna cry if this kills ComicVine or ComicSpace or any other site whose creators actually have a genunine interest in the subject area - rather than just trying to add another vertical to the sprawling goldmine/mess that is myspace!

I'm guessing we're going to see countless soulless mini-sites like this pop up over the next few months. Great!

Marcus (sick)

Re: MySpace Launches Comic Books Community

I think ComicVine is a much better attempt at the comic book social network space. The MySpace machine is a beast however. It will be interesting to see what happens.

The problem with Myspace and Facebook expanding their current social networks to fill these verticals is that the current interfaces don't really reflect all of the subtleties and nuances of what made that particular niche, a niche in the first place.

When you compare ComicVine with the Myspace ComicBooks, it's pretty clear who built something for true comic book fans and who built something just to do it.
