I actually knew about his death from Twitter, amazingly

This is not to sound like a dick, cause I think Michael Jackson is awesome and I love his music. I understand that online world would talk about it a lot, but even on tv, this is all that was on. Same thing happened when meet the press host, tim russert. I just want to watch the news and not be bombarded with gossip really, "if it bleeds it leads" is no longer the phylosopjy or did they forget

I never knew Michael Jackson, but I wish I had. I experienced his music and his songs. I’ll Be There is a beautiful song. Thriller changed my life. Michael seemed complex and sensitive. He was a musical genius and an icon. His childhood was lost to him. He was human. He made mistakes. He touched the lives of millions, and gave us all he had. Though I never knew him, I feel as though I did. He was my friend, and he shall be sorely missed.

I think Facebook is more popular than Twitter on AddThis because of the way people use the two services is different. Granted, there are many more FB users than Twitter users. However, I think there is a bias in just looking at the button data.

People tend to use retweet buttons or paste links in clients to spread links on Twitter. Facebook is popular on share this and add this because the process to go to Facebook.com and share a link is more complicated. At least that's what I've noticed from my own sites.

On my http://magickpapers.com/blog/ blog writer/film maker/producer David Winters, who knew Michael Jackson well, writes a moving remembrance of his close association with Michael. And exerpt:

It was an incredible stage show, and Irina was in hog heaven as she watched Michael perform, having just been with him in the limousine. He WAS amazing and he definitely is one of the all time great live performers I have ever seen. In all we saw about 4 or 5 of his shows that week. Everyone sold out, and everyone better than the last. Michael worked soo hard to please his fans. He gave it his all. And boy, did they ever LOVE Michael. The only time I have ever seen this kind of adulation before was when I did 4 films with Elvis.

After the show one of Michael"s people came up to me and told me that Michael wanted to talk to me in his hotel suite alone. Poor Irina, she had wanted to see Michael again just to tell him how much she loved his show. As it turned out, I also wanted to talk to Michael about a musical film project that I had called "Nicholas Jingle".

So with Irina and Michael Badica waiting in the coffee shop of the hotel I was taken up to Michael"s suite.

Crazy to think about ... but this is the direction our culture is heading. I see the internet as a virtual island where everyone is connected.

What it also means is finally, the consumer, will have control over what they want to read and see televised (backlash of perez for example).

Let's just hope we can all do it responsibly.

i just cant move on, i still feel pain inside my heart, im always out of myself walking on the street thinking of him, i didnt sleep for a couple of days since his death,... there are nights when i cant help but cry,... i remember when i was a child it was his song the first time my two ears had ever heard... i was born 1983 and i was growing up, no one in our barrio could ever afford to go to the city to purchased the michael jackson album, that time my mom was in japan and she sent a michael jackson album, it is us the first who has that album in vintar ilocos norte philippines, and if you could only see how people just gather together in our house that time just to listen to his song...in my opinion,... michael jackson will be the only one who could do a magical performance in this wolrd, no one from the past nor this present nor this future this world could ever produce someone like him.. and if theres any one or any recording label will try to produce someone like him, i dont think it will be greater than michael jackson... michael jacksons life was like jesus christ, he was loved by many people but he has togo through out of all of that pains in his life, sometimes i think, jesus was came to human in the body of michael jackson.. whatever people says, he will always be loved by us!!!!

    Adieu Michael

When I was sitting here on the computer and heard of Michaels passing I ran over to myspace to see what was up. He had a few thousand friends, and after the weekend I checked back and the number rose to over 500 thousand.. Leaving me to wonder how many are real fans, or want to be's because its the in thing to do.. The same people that attacked Michael are acting as though they was there for him over the years...
