Mashable - The Social Media Guide: LUNCHTIME POLL: What’s Your Favorite Twitter Client?

  • Geoff Kutnick · 2 months ago
    I do love Hoosuite.
  • M-Money · 2 months ago
    www.twitter.com is my favorite client.
  • Carl Stallone · 2 months ago
HootSuite of course. Platform independent, but I'm using Win XP Pro.

TweetDeck for iPhone and Windows XP! Love it!
  • grahamenewell · 2 months ago
tweetdeck, only started using it on vista and iphone, love it
  • Jason Ehmke · 2 months ago
Tweetdeck. Easy to manage and filters out a lot of @replies
  • John · 2 months ago
If find Tweetdeck to be too much of a memory hog, and cause extreme attention deficit disorder. For these reasons, I have really grown fond of the simplicity of running TwitterGadget in my iGoogle window.
  • Luka · 2 months ago
    TweetDeck/Digsby
  • pedroduart_e · 2 months ago
    TweetDeck at win xp
  • Judi Wunderlich · 2 months ago
I use both TweetDeck and HootSuite on Windows XP and Vista.
  • Alan Pack · 2 months ago
I use TweetDeck religiously, both on XP and my iPhone. Couldn't use Twitter if I didn't have my customized groups. I just bought a Mac, so I'll probably give Seesmic a try, but odds are I'll just stay with TweetDeck.

I do wish for two things from TweetDeck though, as much as I love it:

    1) TweetDeck for XP integrating with Facebook is great, but I wish I could have a feed/group/whatever JUST for my notifications. Trying to follow what's going on within the full friend feed is a little cumbersome, and leads to me just going to Facebook itself to see my notifications. Maybe I'm missing how to pull this off, but I haven't had any luck figuring it out so far.

    2) TweetDeck for iPhone needs Push support. Plain and simple. Again, perhaps I'm dumb and there's a way to turn it on that I don't know of.
  • aiusepsi · 2 months ago
If you want push Twitter on the iPhone, grab Boxcar. Pushes mentions and DMs quickly and reliably, then opens your favourite iPhone Twitter client to view them.

On Windows and OS X I use DestroyTwitter.
  • Kera Torrence · 2 months ago
Do you know if it works on Vista 64?
  • aiusepsi · 2 months ago
Works on Win 7 64-bit, so I'd assume so. I used it as my primary client for a while before switching back to Tweetdeck, but I really want a version of Tweetie for Windows. That would be my ideal.
  • Jim Burnell · 2 months ago
    Desktop: Seesmic
    Web-based: Hootsuite
    iPhone: Tweetie

Overall: I love Seesmic's Facebook integration, but Hootsuite has the best UI overall.
  • Kymlee · 2 months ago
Twirl...of course, I've not tried any other...
  • Mikey Dantignac · 2 months ago

    Tweetie for desktop and iPhone.
  • Cathi Boswell · 2 months ago
Tweetdeck - Simply because I like the look of it.
  • mita56 · 2 months ago
Has to be Seeismic Desktop - user friendly and brilliant especially for managing more than one account. A close second would be Twhirl and Tweetdeck.
  • Bryce · 2 months ago
I use Twitterrific Premium on the iPhone and Tweetdeck on my Mac. Found the tweetdeck app to be too heavy on the iPhone. On my windows computer at work I use Twhirl and love it!

Tweetie. TweetDeck is a joke. Groups are a joke, they can't and shouldn't be done client-side.
  • A. McArthur · 2 months ago
Tweetdeck makes groups useless by making your configure them anytime you're on a new platform. What's great about Mixero is that the groups are not managed locally. Mixero keeps it settings/history across any installation.
  • Carly Sheil · 2 months ago
I haven't had to reconfigure my groups yet at all over any change-over.

Are you sure you were logging in?
  • mattycraig · 2 months ago
On my iPhone, Mac, and Windows devices I use TweetDeck.

I have just recently migrated from using RSS as my primary source of news to twitter seeing as its real-time. This is where TweetDeck comes in: sorting by groups and instant notifications! However seeing as I`m not in front of the computer all day (actually I am...) I still use RSS for friends blogs, and anything I may have missed.
  • jason · 2 months ago
I'm still using Twhirl. It has all I need and is as stable as as a block of granite.
  • Matt Donnelly · 2 months ago

@brizzly is my favorite twitter client.
  • rickybeats · 2 months ago
My favorite client is UberTwitter. It has tons of features and options but at the same time is so simple. My favorite thing is that the client can be set to check for new tweets every so often. Mine is currently set for 5 minutes. When I get a new tweet it alerts me. I also love that when someone posts a twitpic I can view it with in the client and I don't have to go to the browser to see it. UberTwitter is def the best client available for the BB.

TweetDeck on Mac OS X. I love the multiple column view, and all of the latest features of the new version, including comments and "likes" for Facebook, and threads for Facebook. Being able to send the same updates to Twitter and Facebook simultaneously, or to choose not to do so are benefits.

I use Seesmic Desktop, it is a great app. Always improving and adding new features
  • Greg Davis · 2 months ago
For the desktop: Mixero rocks it for me! It is lesser known but has the functions of the more popular apps while taking up much less screen real estate!

Web-based: Hootsuite is the bomb. I also use it for sharing links - the tracking feature and multi-account mgmt is simply awesome.

BlackBerry: UberTwitter - much better than TwitterBerry and keeps getting better!
  • LeRoy · 2 months ago
Seesmic Desktop ftw! I feel like they are kinda leaving tweetdeck in the dust.
  • Tamiko · 2 months ago
I really liked Nambu but it kept crashing on me.... now I'm loving Seesmic! Tried TweetDeck many times and it's just too slow and I was losing tweets.

I've really enjoyed Hootsuite on my browser. Since it has no Facebook support I've decided to give both TweetDeck and Seesmic Desktop a try. (TweetDeck at home, Seesmic at work). Out of the two I like Seesmic better. I've found it more user-friendly, more intuitive. TweetDeck can be scary to look at. A little intimidating if you're not familiar with it, plus I've come across all kinds of bugs such as not being able to retrieve group columns that I've closed. On my BlackBerry, ÜberTwitter, of course.

Hootsuite is the best browser-based Twitter client IMHO. It works great in Chrome: fast with lots of features well-organized to manage multiple Twitter accounts, track clicks and schedule tweets. (I have all my Halloween tweets already lined up!)

iPhone (iPod Touch) I haven't found any of them that are really good.

Desktop. Don't need it when I am using a browser.

    Definitely TweetDeck <3

I've had my fair share of experience with Twitter applications for both PC and iPhone and TweetDeck tops my favourites list for both!
It's constantly improving, allows you to post to Twitter, Facebook or Myspace and integrates itself with a vast selection of link shorteners, image and video uploaders.
It even allows you to log into your bit.ly account!

I fell in love instantly and swapped over from another Adobe Air Twitter application I was using <3

For the Windows Vista laptop at the office: Tweetdeck for client's/company tweets. Seesmic Desktop for my own twitter @aboutjer and my facebook. Keeps "work" and "play" in their own little boxes.

For the MacBook at home: twitter on the web.

    For the iPhone: Hahlo4
  • Colleen Robledo · 2 months ago
    Personal/desktop: Seesmic (love their multi-account & multi-network integration & groups).

    Personal/Blackberry: UberTwitter (features kick-butt, and multi-account integration)

Work: Stuck with HootSuite for now:
    * They're the only multi-editor client I've found that can feed Tweets to both Facebook pages and MySpace (via Ping.fm integration).
    * BUT their annoying i-frame ow.ly links are incompatible with MySpace, so we have to use separate bitly to shorten and copy/paste into HootSuite
    * I prefer CoTweet for work purposes due to bitly integration and ability to assign Tweets to different employees for follow-up... but no working Ping.fm integration for MySpace yet.

Twhirl for me, because it has both Twitter and FriendFeed and there aren't a lot of FF clients around - not with what I'd like to have. I'd prefer a nicer interface for FF too, though.
(Here in Italy we use FF's comments *a lot* :) )

Really haven't used that many. But I have been using Tweetdeck for a couple of months. It was ok at first, but the recent release from last week has made it even better. I love the new FB and MS integration. It's a one-stop-shop! If only you could get your FB notifications on there (of course I could've missed that...).

On Blackberry I use UberTwitter. Great little app with GPS integration. I love the location-based tweet options, both for searching and chatting.

Right now I'm testing out Nambu and I love the direction it's taking. It's still in beta but it's my favorite client so far

TweetDeck on XP tops my list. TweetDeck really helps me manage multiple twitter accounts. Love the layout, love the notifications, love how I can do everything through one window. Facebook and MySpace integration makes it the best above the rest!

I am using the beta of www.twitjump.com and from the emails they've sent and what I have seen so far, I think it has the most potential. I currently use Tweetie on both iPhone and my mac though. I hope the twitjump dudes (or chicks, who knows) deliver though....

SocialScope on the Blackberry. A very slick experience. Much better than Uber and light years ahead of Twitterberry.

I love Tweetdeck and Twitterrific together, then combined with Growl.

Tweetdeck keeps me organized with groups, and it helps me filter out what tweets I wanna see for a certain day (yeah I'm like that). Then I use Twitterrific with my Growl. The pop-up updates keeps me updated with new tweets every sec even if both Tdeck and Trrific windows are closed.

Definitely http://Tweeteronix.com - a great app that lets me tweet what I is meaningful to a selected group of followers, that is growing all the time!

I use brizzly ever since I discovered it some weeks ago. It has all the extra features I need and that the twitter web interface doesn't provide. I don't like desktop clients because all the links open in another application, the browser.
  • Baxter Tocher · 2 months ago
    On the web: Brizzly.

    On mobile: dabr

Favorite Twitter client: @HootSuite on Mac OS X.5. Handling tweets and searches for clients across five different handles, search windows are the best!

@PeopleBrowsr, while still very beta in some ways, has some unique features that makes it worth sticking with. The new release of the @nambucom tool looks like it will be worth looking at once I get my invite to the private beta (still waiting!).

I'm using Tweetdeck on my laptop (winxp) and very happy, but using Twitterberry on my Blackberry, and not happy... would love to have a better app for Twitter/FB on my Blackberry!!! Any suggestions?

Been bouncing back and forth between TweetDeck and Seemic Desktop. TweetDeck wins because I need to monitor and tweet from two accounts, and I can keep them in separate columns. Seesmic mixes @replies and directs together.
  • Abderrahmane T.J. · 2 months ago
    TweetDeck of course !!

TweetDeck is too big for my netbook screen and I tried Seesmic and didn't like it. However, I've found a real home with DestroyTwitter, as it integrates seamlessly with my desktop and fits perfectly on my limited netbook space.

As much as I enjoy being able to group in TweetDeck, my vote goes for Tweetie for Mac. I love the interface and the simplicity. I use Echofon (formerly TwitterFon) for my iPhone
  • Ivan-Alexander Jung · 2 months ago
I do use Seesmic, love the facebook integration and the columns where you can see everything at one sight.

    Tweetdeck on Mac OSX

But I dream of a day when there is an app with grouping functionality of Tweetdeck, UI of Tweetie, stats of Hootsuite.
