Facebook! I love being able to share pics, links, and everything else with my friends. I like chattting with other users online, too.
  • Katy Barrilleaux · 3 months ago
Tie for 1st place: FriendFeed for work, FaceBook for social. Twitter comes in third.
  • Brian McDonald · 3 months ago
Twitter because it is more real time and good business conversations going on.
  • anne · 3 months ago
    Facebook hands down!

It's the best way to connect with all my family, friends and even clients. I use it to promote the different organizations I'm part of (The Creative House of Lancaster,The CWL and Creatively Wired) I'm on twitter and linkedin as well but you can just do so much more with FB.

My family even has a group page that we use to connect with family members all over the world. The possibilities are endless.
  • Jonas Ewert · 3 months ago
    Twitter all the way.

Hopefully Google Wave will change the game and force lamebook to get innovative and fight for their status again.

    Top5 (order is rearrangable depending on my temperment) 1.Myspace 2.Facebook 3.Stickam 4.Twitter 5.Youtube

  • barkerja · 3 months ago
    1. Brightkite 2. Facebook
  • Trevar Mazza · 3 months ago
Facebook is #1 because most of the people I care about communicating with are not on Twitter, which comes in at #2. I use Twitter to stay connected to the daily flow of information, and Facebook to communicate with friends, family and colleagues (occasionally).
  • glinnemanstons · 3 months ago
I love LinkedIn! I don't know what I would do without LI!
  • bamend · 3 months ago
I like a more intimate approach. Tallwish is for me and our family.
  • Michael Becker · 3 months ago
I go with Facebook, mostly because it connects me with people I have actually met. Twitter's just got too much information flying past for my taste.
  • AdamG511 · 3 months ago
It has been friend feed, but a mass exodus is taking place. Otherwise I actually like facebook as the real life people I know are there.
  • Brian Torres · 3 months ago
Facebook - I can't stop lookin'. Twitter is a close second - great for my pop culture fix.
  • Angi · 3 months ago
Facebook - because it's simple, and easy to see what's going on. The home screen isn't cluttered like myspace.

Facebook, hands down. Then Twitter, I guess. I use them for such different reasons, though, that it is honestly hard to compare.
  • Roberto · 3 months ago
    Twitter...
  • K Patrick · 3 months ago
Twitter, because facebook is so *not* "neat and tidy." Twitter is simple and straightforward and not full of "friends" wanting me to add lame apps to my page.
  • MacroSun Intl · 3 months ago
FaceBook seems to be the way most people are connecting with us... too bad Myspace is just recently getting caught up with useful features...
  • saamimatloob · 3 months ago
Facebook Twitter Orkut Friendfeed Myspace thats how it goes for me.. :)
  • WisTex · 3 months ago
I use Twiiter to update my Facebook Status, and then use Facebook to check up on my friends and family, although I do follow select people in Twitter too. If I had to rank them, 1.) Facebook and 2.) Twitter, even though I mostly post on Twitter instead of Facebook.
  • zpkat · 3 months ago
Other social networks exist outside of Facebook and Twitter? Ah well, those are mine. In that order.

Twitter wins! Like FB to see what friends are doing, but could stay on T all day, with news coming in real time, and links to so many differnet blogs, pics, etc.

  • matthewdlyons · 3 months ago
I would echo Barb Dybwad's comment. I use Twitter--mostly--for keeping up with professional and technical stuff. Facebook is mostly used to keep current with the who/what of friends and family.
  • Austin Harris · 3 months ago
I like facebook more, and I occasionally tweet. I would prefer the poll layout too.
  • Faerymoose · 3 months ago
I use Facebook the most. I like the decorating options of Myspace, but it has been really quiet lately. Twitter bores me.

Different social networks serve different needs. Twitter is my fav for discovering industry and hobby information. Facebook is my fav for keeping track of family and friends. LinkedIn is my fav for keeping track of current and former coworkers. If I HAD to pick one, it's Twitter I use the most.
  • Hisham Sadek · 3 months ago

FACEBOOK. There is so much more info on there. Twitter is a fun toy. Facebook is my baby.
  • Jensen_G · 3 months ago
Facebook because it's flexible - for me, there are only certain things that I will tweet about, but Facebook really can be for anything
  • Flavio · 3 months ago
Definitely FriendFeed! forced to use Facebook as everybody's there, and I'd like to see more Brightkite and geolocalization.
  • Jeni Angel · 3 months ago

  • ileane · 3 months ago
Tweet, tweet and retweet - Twitter keeps me up on news and software, while Facebook keeps me in touch with friends. That makes them a tie.
I like FriendFeed and Digg too.
  • dyegov · 3 months ago
Well I can't decide between Twitter and Facebook. I guess I use and love both equally, but for different purposes!
  • Alicia Young · 3 months ago
I have to agree that FB is my choice for connecting with school/college friends and new acquaintances. It's quick to read, reply and add my status as well as all the fun applications you can add. I use LinkedIn to network with people in my industry and share tips, advice and opinions about the SEO industry and to find jobs.
  • justaguy · 3 months ago
Twitter.. by miles, facebook doesn't register in comparison
  • Tim Minahan · 3 months ago

    facebook...love the photo sharing feature
  • Adam Haider · 3 months ago
In 2008, I made the decision to remove my account from MySpace, and remain on Facebook. A lot of my friends made the move to Facebook as well during the same period. (I guess your 08 predictions were right)

My reason for choosing to use Facebook is due to the continual effort the Facebook team are making to push-out new features and updates. I don't think any other social network so far has had the same make-over treatment as Facebook, and good on them. Seems like they are moving in the right direction for once.

My second choice would be Twitter. However, I still feel it could be better. For one, they definitely need better servers and two, it would make much more sense to include the option to post photos, videos and shorten-links without using external services, or at least integrate them within Twitter itself.

I also think it would be a good idea to include a 'Favourite Followers' feature to a users Twitter page, so you could quickly access your favourite followers.

I agree with Barb Dybwad: Twitter for keeping up with professional cohorts (and new social relationships based on hobbies), Facebook for friends and family (though I connect with professional contacts on Facebook most of them are on limited profile).
  • chadhartman · 3 months ago
    Twitter - short and sweet

Twitter. Non of my friends have it but doesn't stop it being amazing!
  • Minda @ Palmer · 3 months ago
While I really dig Twitter and grow to appreciate it more every day, I have to say Facebook. Same reason as Sharon F. More people interact with me on Facebook. And I haven't been on MySpace in AGES.

Facebook. Because it's a real social network. It's not perfect, farmville's black sheep are driving me nuts, but it works well for keeping me in touch with my friends, family and acquaintances. Twitter doesn't feel like a social network. I love twitter, but it's a promote-yourself and everything-else-you-think-is-important network, not a social network. Oh, if you like twitter better, follow me @adenademonte :)

  • TriNiiTy · 3 months ago
Twitter because it's short and sweet and not all about useless info. It's great for spreading news not covered by the Mainstream Media. And it's pretty much the only place we mere mortals have a chance at having a conversation with some famous people like Felicia Day and Kevin Spacey.

It's interesting that you favour Hi5, may I ask why you prefer to use Hi5 to say other sites out there?
  • Σχολή Χορού · 3 months ago
It just dose what it supposes to do, which is make people meet, talk and generally socialize. No adds, no brands, no company pages. Just pure socialization. Its the only site i am using my personal information and not my dance studios.

Definitely Twitter! FriendFeed and Geni aren't far behind, though.
  • Todd Seemann · 3 months ago
I like all of the ones mentioned above. But I really like a new concept in social networking that I stumbled upon because its geared a little closer to home its called quadcitiesgrapevine.com here but I guess they have these little grapevine communities all over the country. So your networking with actual people from your area. Kinda cool.
  • Jay Purcell · 3 months ago
Definitely Facebook is number one for me, everyone I know is on it! I also use Twitter but it hasn't really grown on me as a good social tool (140 characters?!) it's good for shameless self-promotion though :-) I am also getting more into Blellow for connecting with other freelancers. For video the community at Vimeo is excellent and keeps me coming back to interact with other filmakers!
