Mashable - The Social Media Guide: LUNCHTIME POLL: What’s Your Favorite Firefox Extension?

  • Jerry Zambrano · 2 months ago
By far my favorite plugin/addon that helps me with all things web related (java on/off, custom css, image info. , manipulate form features (non-malicious), control attributes of pages, diable features etc.) Is the Web developer toolbar plugin:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60

I always recommend it to all of my tech. related friends.

Flagfox: "Displays a country flag depicting the location of the current website's server and provides quick access to detailed location and webserver information."
  • bigbny · 2 months ago
    I cannot live without Firebug+YSlow+CSSUsage+FireCookie.
  • Rob Miracle · 2 months ago
There is no doubt. My #1 plugin is Firebug but then I do a lot of web development. For non-web development plugins, I have to give it to Greasemonkey. I have mostly flickr scripts but my flickr experience is much better because of Greasemonkey.
  • startabuzz · 2 months ago
The bit.ly extension is GREAT, but my favorite, so far, is Yoono. It's the spoon to my social media habit. :)

  • Guido Alexander Waldenmeier · 2 months ago
    TwitterBar
  • Mark Zabala · 2 months ago
Firebug. Hands down. It is an indispensable tool for web development. For non-development, Ubiquity is a close second.
  • tobias næss · 2 months ago
It's gotta be Firebug. I don't know how I ever could develop web pages without it.
  • Online Design Bureau · 2 months ago
Without a doubt it's Flock. Yes, I know that is not an app, but I really like the social media integration in this browser built on top of Firefox.
  • im2b_dl · 2 months ago
absolutely Ubiquity (translation/mapping fantastic) and Tree Tab
  • Swati · 2 months ago

    Firebug or Video DownloadHelper
  • the1drewharris · 2 months ago
Firebug is the best for us web developers!
  • Patrick Denny · 2 months ago
    Firebug.

I use it to debug pages, tweak css in designs, prototype JavaScript concepts, deconstruct other people's designs and all sorts of other things.

Hell, I just used it to hack together a one off JSON-driven automation tool to migrate of 600+ pages into a Drupal site.
  • snowkitten · 2 months ago
I can't pick just 1! The first add-ons I install on a new computer are always Xmarks, TabMixPlus, FaviconizeTab & Fireshot. I'd be lost without them.
  • Jay Calderon · 2 months ago
    ABP! Adblock
  • Brandon_Sheley · 2 months ago
    seoquake is mine

As a researcher I have so many pages open at one time so lately I am loving Fox Tabs!
  • Name · 2 months ago
Xmarks: syncs bookmarks, even RSS feeds (#1)
    Echofon: Twitter client
    Adblock
  • MidnightSpark · 2 months ago
It's a toss up between Xmarks and FireGestures
  • Suzanne · 2 months ago
    DownloadHelper.
  • Jonathan · 2 months ago
Without a doubt Ad Block Plus.

I use many of the other extensions listed here, but Firefox would be a different browser without ABP.
  • b2020 · 2 months ago
    adBlock Plus

also I used to use XMarks for bookmark syncing but now I just use Weave. You can download Weave from Mozilla Labs and it can sync your bookmarks, passwords, tabs, and preferences etc. It's great so

I would have to go with
AdBlock Plus as my first choice and then Weave.
  • Oatie · 2 months ago
Autopager - "automatically loads next pages when you reach the end of a page."
No more clicking on the "next" link/button to see the next page - I get annoyed using a browser that doesn't have this addon installed!
  • Techa · 2 months ago
My Favorite firefox extension is Brief reads RSS feeds.
  • Name · 2 months ago
British English Dictionary!! And QuickProxy, because I use my laptop at home (no proxy) and at work (proxy) and being able to quickly switch it on and off is really handy. Oh yes, and Greasemonkey :-)
  • Vincent Zegna · 2 months ago
Video DownloadHelper Pro version, Fiebug, and Xmarks.
  • Travis Buel · 2 months ago
AdBlock Plus and the Element Hiding Helper extension for it. The combination of those two add-ons allows me to shape a website pretty much however *I* want it. Can block iFrames, Divs, images, Flash... Great stuff.
  • facebook-774560424 · 2 months ago
    X Marks!!!
  • Frode · 2 months ago
    Lastpass
  • eggfooyung · 2 months ago
Well, I must admit to being a GreaseMonkey harlot.
  • Jason Barone · 2 months ago
Sxipper, by a huge margin. The form autofill & login/pw UI blows away Roboform and Lastpass.

Gmail, Greader & Facebook on Permatab/Faviconize have been super productive as well.
  • lightningjim · 2 months ago
I have a lot of webcomics that I read that only updates on a schedule so Morning Coffee is an easy way to only open the ones that have (likely) updated. Greasemonkey allows me to take advantage of increased functionally of a website. Ad-Block Plus AND NoScript to protect myself from dangerous scripts such as malware-injecting advertisements. (I always turn off Ad-Block on websites I wish to support and that I feel relatively safe with the ads.)
  • Andwar · 2 months ago
The extension I use the most is probably XMarks which helps me considerably when syncing between computers.
  • Name · 2 months ago

The extension I use the most - and the one I miss the most when I'm not using FF on my own machine - is "Scrollbar Anywhere":

FoxClocks - work with clients and suppliers around the world. It saves me from always asking, "What time is it there?"
  • eltonlester · 2 months ago
    1) web developer tool bar
    2) all in one gestures - I can't stand going from mouse to keyboard
    3) Xmarks

Tree Style Tabs sounds interesting, will have to check it out

  • adamjackson · 2 months ago
    Yoono all of the way!
  • smobot · 2 months ago
I like the Alexa and Compete extensions, because they enable me to inflate my web stats by adding my surfing behavior to their statistically insignificant sampling pools... which is nice.
  • plasticmadness · 2 months ago
Adblock Plus, no shadow of doubt!

    I use tons of extensions, here are some I like the most: Image Toolbar (Time saver. An old version of IE used to have this as a default feature. Don't remeber which, tough); Shareaholic; WOT; Flagfox, Noscript;

    Zotero. www.zotero.org

Fast Dial is the one I use the most, and probably would be lost without, but Zotero definitely deserves to be mentioned. It's amazing for cataloging libraries and sources.
