I hate the way external links open up new windows on this site. I love the blog but it bugs me every time. SAI and TechCrunch have realised it negatively affects usability.

Mark, I agree. Apple needs less focus on numbers and more effort on trying to divide the store up into digestible categories. With that many choices it is hard for the consumer to find quality apps. I still am wondering as updates are made to the iPhone if those 100,000 apps will be able to keep up with required software updates. We may see established developer apps rise to the top as dabblers fall to the side.

In relative terms, my sense is that developers have no trouble keeping up since there aren't 15 different form-factors to support. That said, as Apple extends App Store and iPhone Platform to Tablet, Apple TV, etc. they will have additional platforms to support, which could force HCD v. LCD types of decisions.
