thats cool although stripes a very easy to make, just create a pattern that can repeat seamlessly and thats it

agree with tom. really weak blog post. I don't consider myself to be some "web 2.0" designer but there are times when I use stripes...and they can be a pain in the ass to create manually...

i think its a great, free tool that I use often

It's not so difficult to make stripes, but it's time consuming. This is a valuable time saving tool for anyone who builds websites, whether or not that site can or should be characterized as "Web 2.0."

Apart from having one of the worst first names in the history of mankind, you clearly don't have anything too important going on. You can spend hours building tileable stripes by hand, and writing unfunny, not-so-helpful negative articles. I'm able to respond to this trainwreck of an 'article' because i saved a lot of time today thanks to the wonderful Stripe Generator tool.

yesi tried that too but its such a hassle to make it work on your website. toke me hours to do it but i must say its create a nice stripe and in blends very well. Will make another stripe for my new website

Having to refresh the preview takes too much time. It should refresh automatically when you make a change. Nice design though.

It's a useful tiny app for designers who does not start their mockup in photoshop, instead use XHTML and CSS.

Creating stripes in illustrator and photoshop is actually quite a pain in the ass. Then, pixel pushing until you've defined a tile and saving it as a pattern (or tiling the hard way) is more work than it should be.

Stripe Generator enables a designer to see stripes materialize in any configuration imaginable in a matter of seconds. She is therefore able to view a more patterns in action in the same amount of time, hopefully improving her odds of making a good decision.

I'm not saying that Stripe Generator is something I'll use in the future, but it certainly doesn't deserve to be lambasted on your blog as an unimaginably stupid idea.

I think you may want to be a bit more responsible with your criticisms and save them for people who have truly earned them.

Yeah, don't do it! They will use that stripe orientation to serve up targeted ads!

What's more, Yahoo will try to merge your Stripe Generator account with your Yahoo account, thus combining two distinct facets of your personality which should never be brought together.

On the upside, they're gonna add the option to export your stripes to Flickr. Neat, huh? ;)
