Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Is Posterous the New TwitPic?

  • Amir Karimuddin · 6 months ago
I think for Nokia, it should be S60, not N60.
  • kitchenaid · 6 months ago
Yes that's true. Its might be N60.

I've been using Posterous over TwitPic since the beginning! Recently I started getting annoyed that I couldn't change the appearance of Posterous and stopped using it as the destination site but I still use it as the service to populate my personal blog http://ryangraves.org that happens to be on tumblr.
Either way, those guys are dominating and I love the service!

I absolutely love the Posterous service as a way to share across all social media. Their robust API also opens the door for all sorts of applications to be built on top of their personal publishing platform.

Too bad that - when posting from Twitterrific - only the tweeted picture is placed on Posterous and not the complete tweet (meaning: including text).

Creating a photo blog of your shared Twitter images, without sacrificing comments that can be posted as @replies or image analytics.

Still I find that uploading photos on Twitter is somewhat complicated.. not user-friendly? What do you say?

Another interesting option is Twitsnaps. They have bundled huge number of features, and one might even say that they are taking on not just Twitpic, but photo sharing sites like Flickr, Picasa, etc. I mean, options like zoom, watermarks, etc. are neat to have!

What is your opinion about Twitsnaps? http://twitdom.com/twitsnaps/

    Answer: YES!

Photo sharing being so popular among twitter users, will there not be an integration sooner or later?

Posterous in indeed one of the greatest start-ups available on the web today. They didn't forget the KISS strategy when implementing their service. I feel there is some kind of similarity between them and Evernote actually. Really good start-up! :)

So good that instead of my portfolio page (I am a Flash Developer and CEO at Vuzum) I use a posterous page. Try it: www.andreipotorac.com

It would be nice if they would allow us to use a real domain name instead of somename.posterous.com :)
  • Garry Tan · 6 months ago
Thanks for the kind words, Andrei! We do support a real domain name, actually -- check out mine at http://axonflux.com -- just set it up by clicking Manage > Site Settings!

    Posterous rocks!
I love how it works well with everything.

I am starting a new blog for a large organization, and Posterous is really going to make it easy to have a lot of contributors and have them use their preferred social media accounts.

I haven't even scratched the surface of the capabilities and am very excited about it!

I also think Posterous is an excellent option for posting image galleries online, very simple and straightforward. You should also include Orsiso (www.orsiso.com) to this list of Twitter clients. It has all the key features and in addition helps organize all my other networks from one place. I prefer using that to any of the apps listed above, since my life isn't just about Twitter....

There's another photo share application that is climbing up the charts- TwitSnaps (http://twitsnaps.com) You gotta look at the traffic that this site gets 2 weeks into the "soft" launch. The functionality that TwitSnaps provides is also much greater than the leader. Check this comparison out- http://uurl.in/v43dt3

http//www.coderanger.com/twitcher/ has supported Posterous since it was created, along with tweetphoto, yfrog, twitpic, pikchur and twitgoo

I declare that I am the founder of TwitSnaps - I fell the jury is still out on which service is better in the Twitter Photo Sharing Space. We at TwitSnaps are foccussed on thought leadership and each and every feature in TwitSnaps is photographers delight :)

If Posterous isn't supported by TwitterBerry, it's missing a huge opportunity. Big misstep on their part.

What is this about Twitter on TV? Are they really trying to take Twitter and put it onto the small screen? I guess I just don't understand how you would take twitter and put it on TV in the first place. Here's where I heard about it. http://www.newsy.com/videos/twee_vee_twitter_ge...

Posterous is a great service! I've set up my own account to use for photos from my Blackberry.
