Just an FYI. Apple actually went to Verizon first for exclusivity, but was turned down. AT&T was the 2nd choice for Apple in the US. Phones are also capable of being dual mode. Look at Verizon's BB Storm 9530. It has GSM and CDMA.

I'm in the US. I hope T-Mobile USA gets the iPhone so they can overtake AT&T. AT&T is horrible, thus nicknamed the Deathstar. Well also because their logo looks like a Deathstar, which made me think.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. First, all these articles are speculation based on Bell now being able to support the iPhone, it doesn't mean they can do a deal with Apple or that Rogers doesn't have an exclusive like AT&T. Second, Bell is terrible. Their customer service is by far the worst of any mobile company and their network stinks (maybe the new one will be better). The good thing is the competition might put downward pressure on the the pricing which is desperately needed in Canada. I have an iPhone on Rogers and I'm thrilled with every aspect of it except the price.

Update: It's official now, Telus has updated their website. http://promotions.telus.com...

right.... but if you want the iphone for the subsidy pricing you will need to sign another 36 month contract, and you will loose your granfather plan. Or you can buy the Iphone with bell for full price.

Their price plans are cheap? You must work for Rogers with a comment like that, their price plans are the highest in Canada. Don't even get me started on the data side of it.

Talk about timing for Bell and Telus. There are going to be a ton of existing Bell and Telus customers as well as fed up Rogers customers that are going to lock themselves into a 3 year contract right before WIND mobile launches. Bravo to the execs that pushed to have the new HSPA network up and running before the end of the year months earlier then speculated.

I have wanted an Iphone since they launched but at the time was stuck on a contract with Bell and when I was finally free Rogers had to go and increase their price plans. That was 6 months ago and they have consistently upped their pricing since then which is absolute garbage. Even their latest scam of getting rid of system access fees is just another way to milk their consumer base for more money and at the same time make it looks like it's an actual government fee.

I have registered to be notified as soon as Telus has information on the iPhone launch for its network.

I have long waited for this to happen. I just hope that they have service plans comparable to what they offer for BlackBerry customers.

la vie is maybe Bell, but Bell, ce n'est pas un cadeau either. I'm with Fido and they don't know what they're doing. Switching to Rogers is an option, but it's the same company. Their package deals seem to be better, off-hand. Maybe with some competition the rates'll drop. Bell? I'd rather eat my long underwear first.

It's not that consumers are attracted to any one network provider, although some are better than others. It's that Apple's iPhone now gets another marketing boost with media and blog coverage. RIM's BB's are the way to go, though. Did you know that 30% of calls in NY are dropped on a daily basis? This stat is not exclusive to NY - It encompasses most large cities.

I'm in the Netherlands, the iPhone is only available on the T-Mobile network right now and reception is very very poor (my friends can't access the internet on their iPhones at my house and there is no phone reception at my parents house for example, please note Holland is tiny and I do not live in the middle of nowhere). I'd like them to be on the KPN network (or any other network that shares it's network with, basically KPN shares with a bunch and has great coverage and T-Mobile shares with a bunch and has poor coverage).

I just got an iPod Touch a few months ago and once the iPhone is on a better network I'd be more than happy to make the switch

It is going to take some time before Tellus or Bell can even handle the iPhone, as both are CDMA carriers. Rogers/Fido only had it because they were/are the only GSM carrier(s) in Canada. This also leads credence to the rumor of T-Mobile Canada starting early next year.

I live in Canada and have Fido (same as Rogers) I hate having to pay so much for the stupid data plan and having no choice but to get it. I'd like more competition and not just between Rogers, Telus, and Bell! Bring it on!
