I don't think it's going to happen. Especially with all this Verizon stuff targetting the iPhone... Apple would be foolish to go to Verizon after they trash talked not only AT&T, but the device itself. Profits or not, Apple should have some dignity.

So the next iphone it's coming third quarter of next year, possibly july or august, by that time there'll be a ton of android phones out there and at the speed google is moving problably version 3.0 will be out too. Apple needs to make that next iphone really good, or they'll lose number one. I'm talking about multitasking, bigger screen, more resolution, better camera, faster processor, better battery, widgets, camera flash, adobe flash. Competition is good for everybody, it keeps company on their toes.

Somehow this is news? We've all known for months that: 1. Apple had contracted cmda engineers earlier this year 2. That at&t's exclusivity agreement was about to be up 3. That 02's exclusivity was just yanked in Europe and put the iphone on other gsm carriers there 4. That even with a WAY LOWER subsidy the volume of sales from expanding to verizon will make up for the difference.
And the current ads against at&t will have little to no affect on any sort of prospective business deal. It's typical competition

Well, it was inevitable that sooner or later Apple would seek to maximise profit through bringing the iPhone to several network carriers so as to attract a wider base of consumers. As we have already seen in the UK, the iPhone will be available on 3 different networks by early 2010! This will be happening in all countries, where there are exclusivity agreements between Apple and the particular network, to distribute the iPhone, and by the time the iPhone 4G hits the market, it will be released on several networks on launch day!

I actually got fed up with my broken BlackBerry earlier this week and purchased the Droid. Just to test it out... my suspicions have been confirmed that I don't like it. I'm returning it and getting a warranty replacement BlackBerry to use until the VZW iPhone is released.

I'd like to think they would bring it to Sprint instead of Verizon. They went to Verizon first and big red wanted to have way too much say in the development in the phone. If it comes to Verizon it will be a seriously gimped version. Either way, if they make a CDMA version it means I can buy one and use it on Sprint. Hopefully you can hack it to unlock all the features Verizon will have bottled up and I can have a new iPhone by next Christmas.

Andriod phones are still not selling nearly as much as iPhones. No matter what, the iPhone is the number one selling phone, and no one to date has come close to the sales numbers it generates. Apple won't lose their number one position for a long time.

I think the sooner the AT&T exclusivity deal is over the better for the iPhone and Apple. Verizon's network seems to be better. From what I've read Verizon wireless customers are happy with the network's performance I think Apple would have sold even more iPhone's to this point if they were on a better network.

AT&T wouldn't like the results of that cataclysmic event because people like myself, who sacrificed much better service coverage for the latest technology will jump right back over the fence to Verizon's camp. I've been fairly satisfied with AT&T, but I've had some complaints. I never had any complaints with Verizon.

I've tried all three networks over the years, and Verizon is best hands down. If they offer an iPhone I'll pay off whatever is left on my iPhone contract to be rid of AT&T. It would be worth it even if I had to cough up the full $300. They can gussy up the brand by renaming SBC AT&T, but it's still lipstick on a pig.

No way in hell...Verizon is all over Droid. Plus if they did, your bill would double for shit like $3.99 for visual voicemail and $.50 everytime you access itunes or some crap. But if they did clean up their act...they do have the best network.

They shouldn't. The point of my comment was to support the idea that Apple will make it available to Verizon because, although they like to position themselves as a boutique elite company, they'll trade their image for few bucks. Book it.
I'm with Verizon and have a Blackberry Storm that I hate. I want an iPhone really bad. Verizon has a much better network, cause I was with AT&T for six years and had terrible coverage. Please Verizon take me out of my misery!!

Its not going to happen. Apple never 'takes steps backwards" as they see it. Adding cdma or any older or slower wireless technology to their phone doesn't their model.
