I'm on official Windows 7 now, but I've been using the Beta and RC for about a year.
My desktop has Windows 7 and has no problem syncing with iPhone either. My laptop has a Pentium and the desktop has an AMD chip.
windows 7 is fine if you DO NOT have a p55 i5/i7 chipset.
Only the title is misleading! The rest is just my case for how good Windows 7 is.
I think you need to report it abit better, give us more information.
I'm running iphone 3.1, itunes 9.2, windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
Those with an core i5 or i7 chipset running windows are experiencing this particular problem with an error "0xE8000065" other problems with other computer setup is another issue
Uninstall Itunes and the driver and then restart the computer, but make sure every little bit of apple software is removed otherwise it wont work.
Press F8 on boot and choose "Disable signed driver enforcement"
When Windows has booted up, download Itunes, Right Click on the installer, Click Properties and choose Vista Service Pack 1 compatibility.
Install as normal.
It will work perfectly. I'm not having any issues at all.
So a couple of people of to reinstall itunes during an upgrade, big deal.
I'm a windows 7 user and had no issues like the one stated above
Most of this is just normal iTunes behavior, everything new might be Windows 7, or it might be a new version of iTunes. It doesn't really make a difference, it never worked and it will never work.
Not good for Window's reputation either as people will now get the wrong end of the stick and avoid Windows 7, even though they likely wouldn't be affected.
It's just a computer...like a hammer. If you're that worried about the OS you must not be doing much of real value WITH your computer. ;-)
P.S. I have both. :P
I have an ASUS M3A78-EM Motherboard with an AMD quad-core processor and Windows 7 Professional (x64).
My iPhone's firmware version is 3.1 (jailBroken -- FTW!) and iTunes 9.0.2.25.
It doesn't surprise me that Windows7 will continue to have compatibility issues with 3rd party software. When Vista first came out, every other error that was thrown was, "Contact your software vendor for updates". Windows made it very clear that they had no intention of actively facilitating compatibility. Software & hardware manufacturers had to re-write code specifically to access the Vista Kernel differently.
I already have some minor issues with up-to-date software not functioning properly on Windows7, but it isn't significant. I think it's gonna take time and compromise, but it will get there... eventually. In the meantime, I will continue to use Windows7, iPhone & not try to sync w/iTunes until a major patch release is made.
Thanks for the topic,
J.
EDIT:
From reading other comments, it doesn't seem to be a wide spread issue. It seems that re-installation seems to be a good trick.
G'Luck all.
If you do this no problems should arise. I've done this countless times with a variety of computers, netbooks and laptops.
Off the top of my head... Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> Windows Features -> Media
I have not experienced any driver compatibility issues. Windows 7 is awesome "so far"
Been using Windows 7 and my iPhone for over a year now. NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM TO DATE.
If you'd like me to repeat that one: Windows 7 and the iPhone PLAY NICE just fine. ...back your regular scheduled alarmist headlines.
i did not try this on windows 7
i think there should not exist such a problem
you think therefore you are, a bonehead
win7 ultimate

iphone 3?, not the new s
I have a working, blank iphone but lost everything else associated with it, including my apps. I still cant use itunes after diabling power management and following apples website "advice".
FU2 APPLE!!
http://www.theiphoneblog.com/2009/11/07/busted-...
the phone. It's all about USB power managment (reason for failure to
re install operating system on phone) and windows falsly identifying
the phone as anerther device. Now go fuck yourself. :).
Any ideas?
Any ideas?
Loaded Windows 7 64 bit yesterday.
I was positively excited to find out that Itunes is 64 bit Excellent.
I was positively excited to find out that I can merge the data and not loose my games and songs.
I plugged in the iphone and it kept failing the driver download. I had a bit of a freyed cable to I bought a new one. I called ATT and they tole me to call Microsoft (or buy the Apple protection plan - yikes no way).
I was excited to plug in the cable. Wait a ray of hope the Ipgone drivel loaded properly. Itunes actually saw the iphone and read the data >Yeaaaaaaa
So I discionnected the iphone and wuth a big smile reconnected the thing getting ready to sync and BLAAAAAAAA. I got messages that iphone was not connected it NEVER downloaded the driver again and I can charge the phine but my computer is ignoring the phone and me for that matter.
What the heck do I do. We'll there was that glimmer that it connecect once. If you studied behaviorial psychology, this working obe provided "intermitten reinforcement" which is the mowst addictive and frustrating and it makes you work harder to keep trying again and again.
So I am frustrated, discouraged and will try differenct usb ports, cheking microsoft or the apple site, or scream anf the computer and the iphoine at the top of my lungs hoping I will wake the stupid pair up.
I will look for hop0e soon.
HELP S.O.S
More details:
With the exchange account the OutlookSyncClient.exe crashes, as soon as I open the Info Tab of my iPhone in iTunes. This crash is "silent", which means I don't get an error dialog. The only trace I found was in the event log:
