    you forgot flickim.com

...and the Brosix.com messenger. It actually just won a bunch of awards at About.com. It's actually an enterprise instant messenger that allows companies to limit who can talk to their employees. Sadly, this is the only real safe solution. As long as employees can chat with friends, family, customers, and even competitors, your stuff isn't safe from an attack.

All that to say, Brosix should be on this list.

Where is GAIM in this list?
  • mark · 2 years ago
    Gaim switched to Pidgin. See:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GAIM

I personally like Trillian. The new version looks quite nice too:

I think there is a big place also for open source easy to integrate/embed online chat apps. Tons of SocNets, but no easy way to create an internal chat function.
I think publishers / website owners would love a solution that integrates with their current user database, and a simple line of code to ad to users' profiles.

You forgot Google Talk's web gadget from http://www.google.com/talk.

You don't have to be using Gmail to use IM at a friends house.

Under the Mobile IM section, another multi-headed client to consider which is made by the folks at: www.webmessenger.com.

They make a product that looks/works similar to the IM+ product.

I think you should definitely add qip-- http://qip.ru .
It is VERY popular in Russia (most of my friends0and myself-use it) and elsewhere in Eastern Europe.

It's great and I have never had problems. Works with ICQ, AIM/aol, etc. And, it's small.

This is the English ;anguage website: http://qipim.com/en/
    Please look!

And thanks for your constant interesting information!
