Mashable - The Social Media Guide: In Copper Project, Basecamp Has Some Competition

  • PM Hut · 1 year ago
I believe this is not the only competition that Basecamp is facing, I remember yesterday I read a similar article about a competition from a different company. I still think that online Project Management applications have a long way to go, and I'm sure that the long term leader in this industry has not emerged yet...

This is old news... basecamp has tons of competition: http://www.whybasecampsux.org/

And no doubt we will soon see the obligatory "basecamp not for you? check out wrike" post here.

Yeah, what is up with Wrike doing that? Mention project management ANYWHERE in a post and *bing*, along comes the Wrike spam.

WTH - Do they employ an army of comment spammers in India?

I agree with Bruce and Jones! I see Wrike comments everywhere I read about project management. There are also other tools that are being mentioned, but not as often as Wrike.
Btw, I don't find the application really useful.
    No offense. :)

Yeah, pm software has many flavors these days and I agree with PM Hut about a "a long way to go". We have developed DeskAway.com and are seeing a lot of converts from simpler tools - with changing times people are looking for a mix of simplicity, feature-richness and affordability.

On another note, I do feel that the genuineness of blog comments is slowly fading away....

    Cheers, S

I liked Basecamp, but it's a bit outdated. Copper looks nice, but still too web1.0.

I like the new PM tools that came out recently, like 5pm (www.5pmweb.com). It just takes a single look to see why it's different.

May be I'm superficial, but I use just 20% of features anyway.

Another BaseCamp alternative worth looking at is HyperOffice. They got a good many years behind them, and are a robust, dependable product.
