and to comment off of someone mentioning something about the bad image IE already has...

the funny thing (and sad thing) is that the majority of people don't even realize how much IE sucks.. there's only a bad rep with IE from computer savvy individuals. and no im not referring to a % of people that use firefox over IE (or vice versa). You can still use firefox and have no clue why IE is a bad browser. microsoft did a good job with this ad...puke was kinda nasty. funny though. i just hope IE8 continues to slowly but surely improve web issues for developers. a real pain in the ass.

Viral video does not necessarily equal success. How not sure how the buzz about this video helps Microsoft or IE. It's not like they had a brand awareness problem.

For me, the "increased privacy" message of the ad was tainted by the vomit. The vomit was icky and, in my head, the increased privacy began to align itself with hiding icky behaviors. I imagined creepy people being able to hide the fact that they were visiting sites that might have content that exhibited . . . say pedophilia, from their family members with more ease. Not a very encouraging way to view to product, but there it. For me at any rate. I didn't pass it anywhere, and continue to browse on Firefox.

Microsoft's latest ad is a desperate attempt to lure back Internet users to use IE. But it won't work. Chrome is catching up. Firefox is formidable. Opera is innovating. IE is bulky and slow. Sorry, Microsoft.

It got their message out there, but at the same time, the fact that IE8 is now mentally linked with vomit and porn probably isn't that great a thing. It sucks, and now people are going to think it sucks more. So, the idea of making a viral video was a good one. They just went about it the wrong way. I'll stick with Chrome.

I think they knew what they were doing, and they certainly got their point across. This is actually the first time I'd seen it. My laptop took a crap on me and I can't seem to get it working again after days of toying with it... Fail for me... I'm missing out on great things!

Lol...yeah it'll generate some views, but how many will be convertible? Ppl will be talking, but it still wont solve the image that most people still has about IE8--including myself. It's the most targeted browser for malicious attacks; slow to update; not as customizable as Firefox; feels unsafe just using it. Almost everyday or week you hear about a security hole in IE. No puking viral video can change their image.

It just reminds me IE is puky compared to Firefox. This might be a win for the agency who may hv committed to video viewership as their ROI. It doesn't mean it drove mesg adoption and increased IE8 downloads better than they wud hv been w/o this ad.
