The SMS/Twitter gateway is only available in some countries, certainly not in the UK. Also for G1/Android users there's Twitroid which is a fine application and, of course, free.

I'm a bit surprised that there's no mention in the entire article, or in the comments, that you can tweet by sending a text message directly from your phone, without needing to launch a separate browser application. Granted, you can't do that while drivingâ€”but then, you can't use the apps listed in the first half of the article while driving either.

All you have to do is send a text to 40404 from the phone number you've registered with your Twitter account. (Of course, depending on your phone service plan, you may be charged for each text message you send.)

Awesome list for the non iPhone users. Personally, I love Twitterfon, almost to the exclusion of everything else...unless I happen to be at my desktop & use Twitterfox.

This is a great list of apps/sites for the browser based user; but perhaps you can add to the list with the best iPhone/BB apps? Perhaps also those clients like Brightkite that have the location/geo photo tag/photo function?

With so many Twitter clients ... I wonder what percentage of Twitter users actually use the "native" Twitter web interface ... 50%? 75%? ... thanks for the great information!

there's a ton of more interesting mobile clients than listed here... although this is a nice little starter - there's a ton for iPhone, and then there's android (teitdroid), then many GPS enabled apps like GPS Twitter (via WHERE) and many more

I love twitter, just started to using it 2 wk ago. I don't have an iPhone (yet, at least), so I'll stick with my computer to check my twitter. However, I'm using TweetDeck, a desktop application. Have u ever heard of it? works pretty good for me.
I'll definitely try out tweetie when I got my iPhone :) it's gonna be a great addition to my 7 twitter applications that I posted in my blog.

You can also do voice updates with dial2do.com. I've been using it for a few weeks and it seems to be more accurate than spinvox.
