If you share your photos with img.ly, you could tag people with their twitternames - that really helps remembering who is who ;-)

I won't say something not real. The truth is I had never use Tweetup but would like to try now. I am an active member in Twitter though. You know I am a fan of DIY and I like doing things by myself. I like copy things like dvd or convert them to any format like from mp3 to zune, to psp and etc. I had found many persons who have same hobby in Twitter and we enjoy ourselves very much.

Great advice. Having coordinated a Tweetup in Perth and about to coordinate Australia-wide tweetups on Anzac Day, I can say that I was able to tick my way through your Do list.

That's pretty funny that you mention Sonny Gill, he's in my area and is well aware of the local tweetup group, but hasn't tried to attend a single tweetup. I guess that makes him an expert! I should never visit California and call myself the expert on San Francisco.

Great post. I 100% agree with the visit the venue before you host a tweet up there. The restaurant promoter/manager will say the space is bigger than it really is therefor less people can fit there. Even if you don't live in the area where you want to host the Tweet up I would see if anyone on Twitter has been to the location before.

What a great set of tips. I've already circulated them to my colleagues!

I would also add - be ready for the intensity of the Tweetup. Remember people have already got beyond introductions through Twitter. So conversation jumps straight into where you would normally be 15 minutes into a normal encounter with someone you have never met.
