Curiously enough I was searching earlier today for which plugin you guys use. :) Thanks for the information I am going to work on integrating this today.

  • baishakh · 2 months ago
Definitely facebook is everywhere, and its successful. But its not as useful as Google, for end user.
  • maxrichardson · 2 months ago
Great info here - Thanks a lot. What's the best Wordpress Plugin then? I'm assuming WP-FBConnect?

Eventually there will be one mass social media connection--Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, etc.
  • don · 1 month ago
I am hoping OpenSocial will make this a whole lot easier. Who has time to check out every Social Network one has contacts on.
The solution - start your own social network :-)

Anyone know of a WordPress plugin that will cross-post WordPress posts onto Facebook Fan Pages?
  • John Eckman · 2 months ago
You can use the "Notes" application as well, which can import any RSS feed including your WordPress feed.

WPBook can be added to Facebook Fan Page, and will list the most recent posts to your WordPress blog by title, with links to the Facebook application version of those posts. (Disclaimer: I'm the primary developer of WPBook).
  • Scott DeToffol · 2 months ago
Does WPBook allow me to automatically cross-post to Fan Pages status update when I post a new WordPress post?
  • BandonRandon · 2 months ago
Not yet but we are working on it.
Disclaimer: I also help develop WPBook.
  • nileshbabu · 2 months ago
thx - that's what i was looking for!!!

You can actually use the 'Text' widget if you use wordpress.com. Simply paste in the widget box the code that Facebook give you when you click on 'Creat a profile badge'that normally can be found on the bottom left hand side of your profile page.

CHECK OUT SOCIALLYBUZZ.COM, I USE THEM TO DO MY SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING N INTEGRATIONS.....
  • Robert David Torres · 2 months ago
I still love my HelloTxt/TwitterFeed combo. I post to my blogs via Blogger (Blogger users, you're not left out on the cold!), and they appear as status updates on all my Socials (Facebook. MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) within 30 minutes. Can't beat the write once... appear everywhere simplicity!
  • Becky Grant · 2 months ago
I wonder if I would be able to integreate this with my photo blog. Some how strip out my facebook pictures. It would be just as easy to do it in one place.
  • sytaylor · 2 months ago
No love for us Blogger types?
  • ConnorJack · 2 months ago
Just recently added Facebook Connect to my blog's comment system
  • bhartzer · 2 months ago
I am trying to understand why I would want to do this. I mean, don't people have to be your friend in order to see your Facebook page?
  • Sam · 2 months ago
Webjam is beginning development of a Facebook connect tool which will allow you to login to your Webjam account with your Facebook details. See more at http://www.webjam.com/product_plan

Nice detailed post. If you're not integrating to Facebook, you're missing out.

For our applications, we're using Facebook APIs that allow our users to post audio to Facebook (Their mobile APIs could use some improvements though).

We're also working on audio apps for Facebook, and will be integrating Facebook connect to streamline our registration process.

For our blog, we use ShareThis for sharing of our posts to Facebook and other sites.
  • Bilal Jaffery · 2 months ago
Or you could do what you are guys are even doing and that is to utilize DISQUS (for free) to incorporate facebook, twitter logins.

I've done that on my *unofficial* IBM related blog as well - http://www.bilal.ca

Really good info. Thanks for helping all us bloggers who are working to network our social networking sites.

I do wonder about moderation with these systems. Some of them make the problem of spam easier to cope as they have their own spam filters. While others could end up creating a lot of extra work. And moderation is also necessary where there's some stalking going on given how easy it is to create temporary phantom accounts on the other system.
  • Chelsea · 2 months ago
    very useful. thank you!

Wow! This is good. Thanx for the info.

We run a directory for listing extensions for CMS's. These are the popular Facebook integration tools for Joomla that we've seen that aren't listed above:

JFBConnect - Allows logging in to a Joomla site with your Facebook credentials and updates Community Builder and JomSocial profiles.
    http://www.cmsmarket.com/extensions-directory/s...

JFBConnect is also extend-able with different modules:
    http://www.cmsmarket.com/extensions-directory/e...

Finally, the Facebook Comments plugin works without the above component, and allows for comments to be added to any content on a site:

I have always thought of my blog as a world apart from Facebook, Twitter and the other social media. I like it to stay that way

This is great. I have been wondering about the share on fb button. Thanks!

I guess all the stuff about Facebook/WP means only WP.org users will be able to most of the really good stuff?

Thank you for this! I'm been surveying a few ways to do this for my blogs that I manage and this post is very comprehensive.

    Thanks again!
  • AceNewsService · 2 months ago
I have integrated a number of my sites with using facebook connect plus they will let you add a number of sites as well by going into settings and adding usernames, true to say some will need tokens or apis but you can add to your site more affectively. Also to improve your web experiences index your files and add gears through google it will work better.

Originally I tried to configure the Sociable Facebook Connect but couldn't get it to work so I gave up.

A while later I noticed the Disqus commenting system had Facebook connect integrated with it so I installed that plugin, and killed two birds with one one.. a great commenting engine and FB connect.

I also found a Facebook application called NetworkedBlogs which allows you to integrate your blog with your Facebook profile (and FB Page).

Checkout my NetworkedBlogs - Bring Your Blog to Facebook guide http://thesocialmediaguide.com.au/2009/06/21/ne...

I have also installed the Wibiya toolbar at the bottom of my site which also allows users to share my posts on Facebook or even become a fan of my site.
  • btrandolph · 2 months ago
I really like http://www.networkedblogs.com/ facebook app. I write for a less tech-savvy audience, and NB lets my facebook friends 'subscribe' to my blog without having to set up an rss client. NB posts to subscriber's streams so if it looks interesting, they can open it right there. I expect it's cutting into my feedburner numbers a bit, but as I said, I don't expect most of these subscribers would bother to subscribe to an rss feed (although I have written some how to posts on the subject!)

I also like the social rss app in FB.

We've been helping our web design clients set up Facebook business pages as soon as the new website launches. I think of this step as essential now...something one must do as part of an effective online marketing strategy. Good post!

p.s. This thread of comments is very helpful too--lots of good resources and points in here. Makes me so happy to belong to this global audience of designers/developers who "get it".
