I've seen many people Branding their Youtube channel and I have one branded as well. Since I added some graphic touches and made the graphic work within the template Youtube gave me I've seen more time being spent on my channel rather than simply sniping the video they wanted people are taking the time to browse and subscribe!

And if you are using video online for your team, company, organization, or personal brand, then here are some helpful tips I bet you didn't know.

1.) Did you know that YouTube is now secretly transcribing the audios in your videos and using this data to help with relevancy in search results?

1.) Did you know that viewership and user generated videos has gone up nearly 48% from 2008, and you can bet it will go up even more next year.

3.) Did you know you can add "&fmt=18" to the end of your video link and it will display in HD when that link is clicked?

4.) Did you know you can increase your video's likelihood of showing up in keyword searches by simply renaming your video before uploading it. Most videos have file names like this "097y6304dsc.mov" Change it to a keyword or three that are relevant to your market.

Thank you for this article. It is good and helpful to us just getting started with video marketing. Now do you have any tips for us that are camera shy?

Dan, you've done it again - what a great post! Particularly well timed, as my Flip Cam arrived in the mail just yesterday. I will use this guide to get set-up on YouTube, thanks for saving me a few hours scouring Google.

@Tony - if you are camera shy, you can still post great videos. Use SlideShare to narrate presentations, or Camtasia to narrate web tutorials. Great way to get started.

To upload in one step to multiple video hosting sites take a look at http://www.tubemogul.com/. I use it to upload to eight different sites at one time. As Dan says make your brand consistent across all the video sites.

I think its harder than outlined to build a brand/loyal following on YouTube, demographics also play a huge part, while I think YouTube can help for anyone in the media space, doubt too many others will profit from trying to use YouTube as a customer catcher

Thanks for the information. Easy to understand and follow. Review of more cameras would be helpful.

This is great stuff. Just recently been doing some video blogging. It can be awkward at first, but like anything, practice makes perfect. Don't give up just because you think you are introverted. Make a video a day for a month before posting anything. Before you know it you will be an expert. It's funny how you notice all of your own quirks. Watch yourself, and make the necessary changes.

#1 rule: Relax, have fun and talk about what you know! If it sucks, try again!
