Cant say exactly but i think being prepared will be good. We cant let any country to govern the world. Not for USA not for Korea.

A lot of great comments have pointed out that no, this is not the "first", since Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Georgia, Israel, Pakistan, India, have experienced similar attacks. There was also the May 1, 2001 attacks against US sites that came from Chinese hackers exploiting a vulnerability in MSFT ISS. Of course last month saw concerted attacks against Iranian gov sites orchestrated through Twitter.

Great to see that most US sites had no problem getting back up and running. This was a good demonstration of knowing what to do in case of an attack. Next up: surviving the initial attack.

Warmongering is a well trodden path. Let's not be overly gullible here: remember the Weapons of Mass Destruction?

In history uncounted conflagrations have been started or stoked by the agencies who stand to gain the most wealth by selling to both sides if the conflict, namely the weapons dealers - in thus case cyber security firms and the miltary industrial complex as a whole.

Didn't the russians shut down Romainia a few years ago?

I'm pretty sure I remember reading about them being under IP siege that was a controlled attack.

Well it's fairly conspicuous that only S. Korea and the US were targeted... know anyone else who hates both countries vehemently and has shown an overly aggressive attitude and lack of regard for international relations for the last 60 years

It's like the whole world sense weakness in the USA. We have traced it back to North Korea and we do is say we know it happened, if this had happened to any other country, this would be an act of war. No, we are never safe when we have liberals controlling things. They only seem to care about increasing taxes and cutting national defense.

I read today that Israel is very far ahead of the curve in this regard to Iran. I also heard that the software used by Iranians to get around the censors was developed in Tel Aviv.

You are absolutely correct, cyber warfare has been occurring for more than a decade now. Only recently has it become a 'hot topic' with Obama being the first President to push for policy in the cyber realm.

This is not the first cyber war in any way or shape. My father was in the national security agency his entire career working against orchestrated "cyber" attacks from different countries. Going all the way to the USSR (pre break-up), there were routine electronic attacks.

Just because there are "invisible wars" going on that don't make the news doesn't make it the first attack. If we look at simple strategic placements of the first U.S. incursion into Iraq, we had frigates performing electronic warfare on a tactical level along with entire departments of government personnel using cyber warfare after 9-11.

It is a very simple realization to many U.S. citizens how fragile the economic platforms really are. If you know what domino to tip, you can cause a pretty massive cascading failure.

I am not very worried over North Korea. I think they are pretty delayed in technology compared to the United States and other civilized countries.

Cyberwars have been fought already in recent times. Just a couple of examples: Russia-Estonia 2 years ago and Russia-Georgia last summer.
