"WHAT WAS THAT? O_o" And then I... heh, I googled "tetris google" to see what it was all about.

Re: Happy Birthday Tetris! Love, Google.

OK. So Tetris' birthday is on the same day as D-Day. Yes, D-Day is the more historically significant day... Yet, do we really want to always remember war? What's the big deal? Each and every day of the year, -something- significant happened, and whether or not it's as significant as D-Day doesn't mean that it need not be recognized. Quite honestly, Tetris is a great sign of -technology.- Just think, 25 years later, most of us still play the game. Just about everyone knows what it is, at the very least. It proves to us that not everything becomes obsolete, which is a comfort to know in the quickly paced global economy of today.

D-Day is significant, but we hear of it on a very regular basis. Why not lighten up? Why not spend a day frivolously? In the same sense that potheads everywhere spark up on 4/20, which is Hitler's birthday. In the same way we prepare for easter egg hunts on a Holy Day. Ask for candy on Hallowe'en, traditionally a holiday to -scare off evil spirits.-

Quit your whining. Tetris is a game. D-Day is a day in world history. As a political science major, I understand the importance of remembering history (lest we repeat it), but if we do nothing but dwell then we can never advance forward. Have a little fun!

Re: Happy Birthday Tetris! More than a hundred thousand men reached Normandy where they would liberate Paris only weeks later. Thousands of paratroopers landed in forests surrounded by the enemy and did so as volunteers. Quite frankly, that was the biggest amphibious invasion in modern history. Americans, British, French, and even Canadians risked their lives. Tetris.... that is pathetic.

Re: Happy Birthday Tetris!
