Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Guy Catches Laptop With His Butt: YouTube Video Raises Eyebrows

  • Σχολή Χορού · 3 months ago
OK my opinion is that this is a stupid (fake but doesn't matter) video. Whats the point or the idea behind it? only the creator knows. maybe its just the industry competing of how stupid and unethical a advert can be and still sell. The next model of MSI will probably be with the shape of a dildo and the slogan ... One Notebook ... Many uses.
  • Random Good Stuff · 3 months ago
There is no doubt it's fake - it's so slim it even fits in a butt crack. Perfect advertisement slogan.
  • r0uter · 3 months ago
Near the end where the one individual is throwing one laptop after another, it appears to be caught before he is able to "catch [it] with his butt".

WOW! That's a fantastic video! However, I think it was all edited, the one where he's doing cartwheels wouldn't have hit him, it was thrown at a really weird angle, then it just dropped down into his butt. But-t (get it?!!) who cares, its a great idea!!
  • Tim · 3 months ago
it seems inspired by Guy Catches Glasses With Face
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-prfAENSh2k
except you can work out how they did all the sunglasses tricks, I haven't yet worked out these ones, unless they're all computer effects...
  • arivindabraham · 3 months ago
My suspicion is the laptop is real in some shots but CGI in others like when it's thrown from the roof, it just falls TOO perfectl
  • bassel · 3 months ago
ok this is a (fake) video, so where is the problem? it's a nice advertisement, do you think the ads you watch on tv are real? even simple things like water flying out of bottle are mostly made with 3D and video editing software, and that is normal..
  • PandorazBox80 · 3 months ago
It looks pretty fake to me, but I don't even care. I cannot stop laughing my non-laptop-catching butt off!!!
P.S. At the end, the monkeybar catches, looks like the guy's butt catches at least two of them by the corner. I realize this is most likely fake, but unless the computers were added to his rear in editing, ouch!!
  • Mohnish · 3 months ago
Looks like a magnet in that guys butt.
  • Dan Barrett · 3 months ago
I'd bet money this is fake.
  • Muzammil · 3 months ago
    yeww that hurts! :P
  • Klaus @ TechPatio · 3 months ago
Looks really fake and looks a lot like an advertisement :) Great idea though ... I'm just glad it's not me catching it with my butt, it gotta hurt somewhere....
  • mobiusinformer · 3 months ago
Not sure it's fake, but I've often wanted to do that with my laptop to....well, there's a whole list of people.
  • Yourae · 3 months ago
    Ouch
  • Chandler · 3 months ago
Watch his butt really closely on the second throw when he's dangling on the pole, you can see that it's edited.
  • catchmikey · 3 months ago
Sensitive area reaches the masses :) I think it's fun and relates to some older "jump in jeans" videos that were successful. A nice slogan would've been nice to add. "Slim enough for any tight #$$" ohhhh dear
  • Carl Smith · 3 months ago
    best comment so far!

I don't like it 2 be real it must be creditable
  • catchmikey · 3 months ago
haha thx carl! I appreciate the feedback. I actually went on to write a little blog article related to computer and butts....haha! interesting body areas to place your product, and as for marketers, product placement is key! lol happy wkend
  • Charliee · 3 months ago
I dont think this is real, but a part of me really wants it to for some sick reason.
  • cpmomcat · 3 months ago
I saw this post yesterday and sent it on to my kids, asking if they thought it was "real" or digitally created in some way. What a kooky idea! It will certainly get attention, but I'm not sure if the company will even be noticed (I didn't notice it at all - just noticed it was not a Mac).
  • nwjerseyliz · 3 months ago
Real or fake, if I was the company, this is not how I'd want to be remembered: "The laptop so thin you can catch it in your butt!" Not the greatest sales tagline.
  • coxy · 3 months ago
What with this and the Microsoft Office water-slide viral going round; they all seem to be using a mix of CGI and the sort of stuff that the guys who made A Normal Day have been doing.

Basically, I've seen it all before - and this time round, it's not so impressive.
  • ☮Emily Sutton☮ · 3 months ago
Sooo fake. Sooo obvious. Throwing a laptop isn't that smooth. Even those lame MSI computers aren't that cool. Good advertisement though. You should have gotten paid for it.
  • shadolen White · 3 months ago
Only a PC would be small enough to fit in someone's butt. I hope his virus protection was on.
He was throwing that PC kinda hard!! "Ah yes we now how everyone feels about windows"
Taking it straight up the whoo- hoo
  • obilon · 3 months ago
Sorry, but that video is not viral, it's asinine. (Had to do it.)
  • Philip Turpin · 3 months ago
Disappointed - after reading the headline I was expecting to see Mr. Kawasaki in there somewhere on some sort of 'youtube moment'. :)
  • mariusz · 3 months ago
It's actually an ad for MSI and yes, it's fake. Wired and Gizmodo already reported that. ;)
  • Jim Yiapanis · 3 months ago
Very effective viral campaign and that cost MSI peanuts. Marketing genius,
  • kiedis · 3 months ago
of course its fake, its done the same way they did ray-ban ad.
they actually copied ray-ban with this ad...but it's less good than the original.
  • Haylee · 3 months ago
It definitely doesn't look real. When the guy throws the laptop, it looks like it's half a pound, and when the other guy catches it, it looks like it just sticks to a certain area of his butt rather than him grabbing it. Shenanigans! lol
  • Felix · 3 months ago
    Hi,

best video ever seen, weather it's fake or not xD lol

    greetz
  • dumb · 3 months ago
this video actually made me a little more stupid. I'm glad kids have nothing better to do with their time. Fake or not, under direction by some creep or not, pretty sure I will not buy a computer that's been up a guys ass. Idiots.
  • Taiwan Brown · 3 months ago
If the African-American guy was doing the catching... I'd believe it!
  • Miguel · 3 months ago
Anything is better than "Bing goes the internet". This video is obviously fake ( I hope ), funny campaign.
  • Cody Ward · 3 months ago
Wow, what will they think of next?
  • jubo · 3 months ago
I think it's fake, but who cares they are getting loads of publicity which is what they wanted.
  • Tim Schoffelman · 3 months ago
I wonder if the camera man is wearing those same tights - #notcool

That is the best wedgie video ever.
  • CulinarySchoolFinder · 3 months ago
Um, when did everyone lose their sense of humor??

<math geek voice>Hmm, the trajectory of the computer being thrown is significantly off from the longetude of the buttcrack.. Yes, its a fake..</math geek voice>

This is a freaking hilarious video! Good marketing? Not sure. But funny? Hell yes!

regardless if its fake, the catcher now has the most famous arse on the Internet.
  • LP · 3 months ago
It's obviously Graphic computing, and I did not think that the video was made to people think it's real, but exactly to take the buzz effect, and it's going fine in that as we see.
  • DamnCat · 3 months ago
I don't care what kind of deal they give me - I will not take a demo model
  • Josh Kadis · 3 months ago
Don't forget about the Levi's ad where guys do backflips into pants, etc.

  • scrippsgirl · 3 months ago
Totally fake looking. It also feels like a misguided campaign to a gay target audience.
