Hmm, anybody think that the white-hot, mercurial rate of traffic growth lately for Twitter, combined with Twitter's recent hints at expansion of its searchable indices could have anything to do with this? ^^ Good article Adam, and "the message “Install Google Chrome” at the end. It’s all very Apple-like," hmm how about Microsoft-like? In these constantly changing days, even the juggernauts have to continue to prove that they are high-quality, viable, and what consumers want!

I am not sure it will be much of a help to competition with the ultimate firefox but Its sure a good idea for an arcanoid clone! I loved this game and i miss it!!!!

Wow, after seeing the video, you're right, that is very Apple-like! But, is this really going to cause people to want to download and install the Chrome browser by seeing THIS? Didn't do it for me! haha (although I have heard that this is a good browser). Again, though (see my other comment below - "Mr. Z", just goes to show you have to continue to keep up in today's changing world of rapidly evolving technology. A few years back, there was no Google, 1-2 years ago, Twitter was nowhere on the landscape... ^_^.

yea, if you haven't heard of Chrome, the ad really doesn't tell you what it is ... I suppose the surprise of seeing a Google ad on TV though might drive plenty of people to simply Google "Google Chrome"

Makes perfect sense. I've long argued that Google lost the leadership for search engine market share in China because unlike Baidu, they failed to advertise in traditional media.
TV ad for a web browser?? Google and YouTube isn't enough to promote Chrome? IMO it means that the launch of Google's browser was a complete failure - the product cannot defend itself and the users aren't recommending it to each other - no VM, no buzz
I don't live in the US but I'm wondering if you have ever seen a TV spot for FireFox ;)

They would have a lot more users if just make the scroll softer.
Appart of lack of third-party add-ons it's a good browser, but the scroll is just killing me.

This commerical is not so good, especially from a communication perspecitve -- very uninspiring -- and i am unclear why it would move anyone to do anything. Even the type at the end is not placed well.
Overall, if this commercial played to a national market on TV it would fail miserably -- the average person is not going to know what the message is, or where to download the product.
