It'll be interesting to see how much Lala benefits most from the search results, especially in terms of the traffic they receive and subsequent advertising revenue...

"MySpace has swiftly positioned itself as a main hub for music content."

I don't know that I would say that partnering with Google has repositioned MySpace as a "main hub" for music content.

They lost a lot of steam lately, it will take much more than a "me too" music campaign for them to regain a crown of any sort. When I think of music, I think of iTunes. I do not think of MySpace.

I reworded that after thinking about it more ... "middleman" might be more appropriate. Even in the Google implementation, you end up buying the tracks on iTunes or Amazon. MySpace just has the streaming catalog and will get a cut when purchases occur through it's potentially soon-to-be-vast distribution network (Google and potentially Facebook and MSN).

I hope google gets more into offering music search-able by different metadata than the norm.

It would be great to search and find music by tempo for instance.

Apps like Cadence are doing some of this already , but a major doing this would be very cool.

    Yeah... Google is unstoppable.

iTunes is a music store not a music hub. Where can you steam full songs and videos free: MySpace. Nobody wants to hear 30 second clips when you ca. Easily acsess a streaming site like MySpace Music.

What would be really good, is they come with some way to "search" music by a melody fragment… What was that song of, er, don’t remember, but it sounded like ta,da,da ?

Google innovates for its search engine. That's great!
After the social search ( http://unitedworld20.blogspot.com/2009/10/googl... )we can find now songs thanks to their engine. I'm a little bit frustrated because it's not working right now... But I hope it will soon work!
    Way to go Google!

Really looking forward to testing this out. Could be really cool. I am constantly trying to figure out songs based on a lyric or two.
