I have no patience for web apps anymore, does that make me a bad person?

yet another reason apple needs background apps. push notifications is neat but doesn't cut the mustard and puts a lot of stress on devs to build server infrastructures for these things.

Amazing job Google, but doesn't it make sense to include it with the Maps on the iPhone? That would be smarter.

yea, Latitude and Maps are essentially the same app on BBerry, dunno why they wouldn't go that route. Odd.

Google is right. Having a separate binary download to use a single Web site on every single device is a regressive, if not outright idiotic, model -- iPhone or no iPhone.

Well I started out happy about this news but is now rather deflated. Why not integrate it with the existing map-solution? That would be the most logical thing. And anyway, if I can't see real time location then it isn't worth much. I'd have to call up my husband and ask him to use the app so I can see if he is almost home, and then I might as well just ask him then and there :P
I think I will sit this one out and get back to eating popcorns while I wait for a mymaps-app :-)

You can use Facebook with Google latitude by using Footprint History. http://apps.facebook.com/footprinthistory

Why would they make Latitude a separate app anyway? On all other phones it is integrated into Google Maps. Furthermore, why would the App store be so picky about it? Especially, if they are able to make this "work-around".
