Really puts communication monopoly in perspective. Even when not ill-willed (I freely admit I'm from the Google-can-do-no-wrong camp), technology fails. Here's to 70% of the emailing world putting all our eggs in one imperfect basket...
  • amos · 9 months ago
this is really funny and sad at the same time...
  • Kun · 9 months ago
Never realised how much we all relied on Gmail. What's plan B?

If you're worried about not getting any work done, here's a little tip: you should still be able to fetch your email through IMAP.

I activated Gmail "OFFLINE" option 15 days ago, this way you can still see

Looking for a back up plan as we speak, this baby is sinking!
  • bloggs · 9 months ago
Anyone who relies on a free mail service to run a business needs to think again. A POP3 account costs next to nothing, so I hardly think it realistic to complain when a service that is free, and designed for consumers/personal use, has a temporary error. If it is that important, pay the $5/month!
  • Charly · 9 months ago
Maybe they are still shooting pool at the employee lounges...

It wasn't even down that long. If I recall correctly, Gmail is still in beta.

If you can't live without your email for half a day, you need to take a serious look at your priorities in life.
  • Rahul · 9 months ago
I was wondering if there was a problem with my machine because I got a message saying my machine could be infected with spam virus and hence my access to gmail was being restricted. Damn them, I had to run anti-spam software to check my machine.

Anyways, am glad to find it up and running again..

There is ALWAYS an acceptable percentage of time of interupted service per year. It's usually high 90's. And come on... really? It's free. Try hosting a server in your house and see how many hours out of the year it's up. Your internet could go out, your server hardware could die, your software could crash or become corrupt. It's what we call life. Nothing is perfect.
