Too bad you can't access the site. The blasted thing takes forever to load.

Does it say "waiting for gg.google.com"? It did for me and I fixed it by disabling script debugging on the firebug add-on

Something else that would be nice to platform (outside the porn) is the influence of the twitter account.

I registered with geochirp, didnt find many active users for the London area.
  • Trex · 4 months ago
How is this different from search in Twitter using command "near"?
Like for example-> "swine flu" near:London.

Google maps and twiter, but google maps is on maps.google.com. So for what make duplicate?

This application just sucks. It takes forever to load, and it doesn't offer any kind of accuracy measurements. If you search for people in Amsterdam for example and go to their profiles, you see that they actually wrote things like "Saturn" or "Moon", but still Geochirp shows them as being from Amsterdam. It doesn't offer any additional information when compared to twitter search, and in fact what you get is a delay compared to Twitter search. Why would anyone use this??
  • sarthak · 4 months ago
@Aaron - about the time delay we have been working on server load optimization and the app is much much faster now. Will keep the users posted on any other features we might add. Hope those additions make the experience more pleasant for you.

What an excellent addition to my arsenal of Twitter related resources. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

It's cool to find out if there are someone say the things you want to know near you, but i fail to see the top tweeple in my area, maybe there is nobody uses twitter in my area?
  • andy09 · 4 months ago
It's super slow, and it doesn't show people that I know are in my area. Not very handy at all. Still no love for Geofollow... the ultimate local Twitter Directory :(
  • id8 · 4 months ago
Well - I see much of the discussion is now on all blogs is around real time search.Geochirp adds to the list.

Trendsspotting has made some interesting predictions on real time search hype

Not sure if Geochirp is one among those startups who wont be able to live upto the real time search hype.

Its brilliant but a bit like big Brother...
Watching your neighbours and spying on Keywords and stuff...
I guess that what its for!?!

Great find, a cool simple app. You might also want to check out socialseek (getsocialseek.com). We released it last week and there's been some great reviews so far.

    Thanks,
    Jaafer
