It's bad enough in your email box, it sucks on your phone and it'd certainly hold me back from using this service.

Re: ForSaleByTxt: Get Instant Information on For Sale Signs via SMS

We had a similar thing going for a some months now with integrated google maps and messaging. This signs are such a problem! Getting the drive-by user to see the opportunity is only one of the problems. Its a great idea though, and I am certain it will slowly but surely catch on.

Re: ForSaleByTxt: Get Instant Information on For Sale Signs via SMS

You could also advertise the sale of your house on a social netowork. This will broaden your demographic reach for buyers while enabling you to blog, which will drive traffic to your site, ultimately increasing your chances of a sale. -Annalise http://www.hoponthis.com

Re: ForSaleByTxt: Get Instant Information on For Sale Signs via SMS

What about a simple statement - interested? turn on your bluetooth? Can we still use basic, simple for the consumer, tools to attract attention and share information?

Re: ForSaleByTxt: Get Instant Information on For Sale Signs via SMS

I have to agree with the above comment, partly because we did this ourselves for a while.

With the introduction of mobile phone handsets with fast and clear web access, we had better success by posting a quick reference to the property on SmarterHousing.co.uk.

Our references are pretty short - COV241 for example - and we've had good traffic from these quicklinks.

We're moving into house sales soon so I might re-open the service.

Re: ForSaleByTxt: Get Instant Information on For Sale Signs via SMS

A simple sign made cutting edge by virtue of what it says, not because the sign itself contains a microchip, or is made out of space age materials. Fascinating!

I would be willing to bet, however, that many, many viewers driving past a sign with "For Sale by txt.com" are not going to understand it. Since people have from a fraction of a second to a few seconds to read signs as they're driving by them, if the message is unclear, they simply ignore them .

Certain age groups, and internet-saavy folks will find them convenient (and understand what they mean upon first seeing one), but until enough of the general population catches up with them, these signs may as well be blank.
