I can't see myself ever utilizing the video upload tool on Flickr as I'm very happy with Vimeo and like having all my videos in the same place. (Much like having all my photos in the same place on Flickr.)

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

To be honest, i could never justify paying money for a site like flickr, but if I did pay for it, i'd be pretty annoyed that they just gave away one of my advantages that i get with paying to users who don't pay.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

go on, I'm all ears...

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

I'm a pro user of Flickr. Partly, because that's where my friends are. My roughly $20 a year gives me huge value. I have about 2,500 pictures there, tagged, grouped, and awesome. I know of nothing free that compares outside of hosting it myself, and that costs a lot more than $20 a year.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

Beautifull!!!! now my clients have more leverage when this channnelll is open thank u alot Jenn

W.D.
LebSeo

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

2 video per month sound less, but it's better to have something then nothing

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

I need longer than 90 seconds. The clock idea is really the only thing that appeals to me too, though I do think existing video users will appreciate HD uploads.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

Naaah! Flickr is not for video. I’ve never uploaded a video on there, too. Even if I'm a pro-user from 2007.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

2 videos per month, this is ridiculous. I'm a Flickr user, not really a video freak, but I wouldn't use it for videos. Dailymotion or Youtube are far better and have less limits in upload.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

Flickr being the only web service that has ever successfully persuaded me to pay for it, I really wanted to make flickr video work. How great would it be to have my growing video snips be organized in the same place as my photos?

So far, flickr video has been a Flickr FAIL. The time and size limits proved too restraining, and I would constantly find myself having to use other services for my videos. Whether one was too long, or another had magically crept up beyond the 150mb limit while staying under 90 seconds, there was always a frustrating experience where I could not upload files to my flickr account.

Allowing for longer and larger videos will make it more useful for everyone. Letting everyone into an already partly broken service will not make a win, IMHO.

Don't ever count out the inventiveness of the Flickr family, tho. Something fun will come of it.

Re: Flickr Opens Up Video Uploads for Everyone

Flickr is for pictures. That's what I use it for. I've uploaded a couple of videos, but it's more an afterthought than an intention. But I still post all of my pictures to Flickr.

Go with what you know, and Flickr knows photos. Having said that, I also like the clock idea, and am looking to see how things will develop with that tool and the community.
