Obviously there is something else here, some crucial part to this case that would tie it all together into something that made sense.

Also this was not a case of an artist going against an evil music empire (for those who have and will say such). This was a case of Eight Mile wanted a deal with Apple and was pissed Aftermath was taking their cash. Eminem had little to do with this, Mark and Jeff Bass own Eight Mile.

Or to quote Yahoo, "At trial, Pomerantz said Eminem's publisher receives royalties off iTunes downloads but simply wanted more money." If your getting your royalties the only reason to sue is for a more favorable deal for yourself. Which means this was a pissing match between Eight Mile and Aftermath with Apple stuck in the middle. Naturally I comment based on the scraps of the case I've been given, I have to assume there is more to this.

A suppose a more apt rundown would be greedy publisher goes after greedy distributer and greedy label for more money? All the more reason to do away with royalties all together, I mean aside the fact it's strangling internet radio to death and jacking up the cost of music I mean.

Re: FINALLY: Apple and Eminem Settle 4 Year Dispute

Interesting. I'm not an Eminem fan, but I have had my issues with Apple's iTunes for years now. It's DRM is absurd. At its release, many of my personal/private music were automatically locked with DRM to prevent moving to other machines. It was MY music. I deleted all tracks, and re-ripped them from my original CD's.
Personally I like the idea of iTunes receiving a blow for negligent behavior over media rights in general.

J.

Re: FINALLY: Apple and Eminem Settle 4 Year Dispute

Good to know it's over.
