Well, actually the help section says FB usernames for people who joined after the cutoff date go live at 11.59pm EDT. It would make sense that Pages happens at the same time. Explained above.

Slightly off there, sorry. Facebook aren't being very clear on this one at all. I'd read some initial (unverified) reports that it was 11:59pm tonight and that combined with what Facebook are stating in the help section made enough sense for me to go with. It makes sense to all happen at once rather than different phases in the same day. I note some people are saying they managed to get the URL today already but Im wondering if those are meaning personal URL rather than pages?

I didn't get http://facebook.com/brianjking like I wanted for my personal profile so nobody better steal my Facebook Page name for my company, I was even sitting at my computer on http://facebook.com/username when they released vanity URLs for profiles the very second they did and still lost it! Got http://facebook.com/brianjosephking though. Hopefully if all goes well I'll get what I need for my company Facebook Fan page though. I'll post an update here later, thanks @mashable.

Interesting- I set my username a week ago. It's working fine for me. Didn't realize it was such a big deal- but I'm glad that I beat the rush!
Guys, I believe that is incorrect. I just checked FB's Help centre and I'm reading 100 fans, not 25 "This limitation is temporary. All Pages created after May 31, 2009 or that had less than 1,000 fans on that day will be eligible to claim usernames on Sunday, June 28, 2009 if they have more than 100 fans."

Well they changed the requirements again today, and only in the last 2 or 3 hours (because I have been checking all day long). You now have to have more than 100 fans, NOT the 25 that it said this morning. I am not a happy camper.

Facebook do appear to have changed the requirement from 25 to 100 fans. People who said they have already claimed their URL today must be referring to personal profiles, not fan pages. Or must have qualified for the first round of URLs and just claiming late.

I have noticed that MySpace & Facebook remove normal people on the words of known morons, of for having "too many friends"... Here's my question, how did MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter get so big, without direct marketing, and when it is unable to reach people for support..

The way FB is handling this is just plain silly. Great marketing/pr stunt, but come on, just pathetic. I could see the advertising costs for this prime time, very visible, time slot skyrocketing just like it does at Super Bowl time. You should be able ot get a custom name at any time. What's next ... custom app rollout, custom this, custom that... I really hope this "service" disappears within a few years.

When you apply for a url for your FB name, you get a choice. When you apply for a url for your FB page (for your business) you do not get a choice.I have a FB page with two names separated by a space. (Our busines name is two words) Now... either names for pages are not live yet OR it does not give any choice for names and does not let you choose a name with a space between two words. That means I am locked out. Any ideas.

I manage pages for 3 authors...here are their fan page vanity URLs...
Have over 100 fans, but I get message that says I need to set up personal profile to perform this action. However, it also warns you that businesses can not set up personal profiles. I am confused. I did this for my personal facebook profile earlier this month with no problem. Any ideas?

Success. I claimed our company name, CUTCO Cutlery, today for our fan page. It took me a little while to find out where to do it, but finally was successful. I was worried for a brief moment that capitalizing CUTCO would not allow people to search for an uncapitalized version. But after testing, it all worked out great.

Be careful, page administrators! I tried signing up for a username for a page I administer, even though it has fewer than 25 fans, because the situation/rules kept changing and I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Well, my request went through - BUT somehow Facebook saw my account as a personal one and now all my page content is gone. I have the URL I want -- but the title for the page is my personal name, not the Page name. I had to make a profile as an administrator for the page, so FB took that profile name and knocked everything else out. I can't afford to lose this username for the company whose page I am administering. If anybody has any suggestions, please email me at lcoll9@aol.com. I've tried contacting FB in every way I know how (bug report, emails, etc). Doesn't appear to be a way to get a real human over there. Like I said, be careful signing up for your username!

I get asked to verify my account: "Before you can set your username, you need to verify your account. If you have a mobile phone that can receive SMS message, you can verify via mobile phone. If not, please try to register your username at a later time." I did so, but never received the code on my cellphone to continue the verification. :-( When I changed the URL of my personal account last week, I could do it without problems. Any idea??

This is crappy - I have a legitimate business and want to use my brand name as my facebook username for my company's page but because Facebook randomly decides to penalize new businesses for having less fans and up the fan requirement from 25 - 100, I'm out of luck. Thanks facebook.

Thanks to Mashable I have been using his link to find other fan pages and adding them. As I become a fan of a page, I leave a message with my page link. I received a message from FB that I have been banned temporarily for over posting to the wall. The ban states that I have been warned, but I can find no warning in my FB mail, or on my wall or anywhere. What gives! Plus it is pretty crummy to change the requirement from 25 fans to 100 at the last minute. FB fail.
I administer more than 30 facebook pages for a mid-sized, national company. My interpritation of the initial facebook username policy was that registration was open to everyone on June 28, regardless of fan-base or your page's "birthday." My department has been working diligently to promote facebook within our company. Selling the officers on the concept and having the facebook ban lifted by our IT department wasn't easy, but we got them on board and actually excited about it. So my assistant and I are poised to register names for our pages, in the middle of the night on Sunday, June 28, only to find facebook has changed the rules and implemented a 25 fan minimum. So we busted our buts all weekend to secure 25 fans per page, just to find out the following Monday (today) that facebook changed the policy again, upping the minimum fan-base to 100. Facebook has received a lot of press lately, which has perked the interest of a lot of companies who'd like to participate in the conversation. But now we find ourselves being shut out of the room.
I would have preferred just our call letters (/wyso), but you had to have five or more characters. I'm sure other stations are probably finding that detail a bit annoying. I still can't register a page for my show yet as they upped the requirement to 100. Again, I'd have more fans if I could simply say on the air "Go to Facebook.com/Kaleidoscope" (though I'm betting Kaleidoscope is taken now) instead "Go to the station's site, find my show page, click the Facebook link..."

How do you do it????!!! I don't see a link anywhere that lets you name a page...I have several created in Jan/Feb of this year with well over 100 fans each...
My husband just got his 100th fan. He didn't make the posted deadline last night but was able to secure his FB page URL a few minutes ago. I checked FB and there wasn't any announcement that they extended the deadline. If you recently got 100 fans, go try to see if you can get your page URL.

Anyone else having trouble getting your pages registered? I keep getting the "Verify mobile phone message" and when I do - it just says: Your mobile phone has been successfully verified. That's it!!! No option to actually then select a name...so frustrating. Someone, help!

I don't understand the logic of requiring 100 fans to get your page's url. I could understand limiting it to active pages, perhaps those that haven't had the owner post or log in within 30 days or so, but to limit it by number of fans seems unfair. Especially when they don't give us an easy way to show our page links on our profiles or promote them other than the paid ads. - they have finallly added page badges and I finally found an application for my boxes tab to list them. Some of us have been diligently working on our page(s) for some time and being able to do a short, meaningful url to it would certainly help.
