Mashable - The Social Media Guide: Facebook Lite: Facebook Needed a Diet

What actually makes Facebook heavy is the annoying applications.

So, what was the point of Facebook's "makeover" a few months ago? I reduced my time on Facebook once they added all of that crap. In fact, Facebook talked so much about changing their look to look like Twitter that I just switched to Twitter almost exclusively. I missed the streamlined original version of Facebook, and now Facebook is trying to go back to that?

Irrespective of Facebook's motivation for Facebook Lite, it's got to be a step in the right direction because Facebook is just too CONFUSING. That's why I've preferred Twitter!

Even today people complain about the new look. How long has it been? One - two months? Perhaps Facebook Lite should keep the that teenage twitter'ish look and the let the grown-ups get the old look back.

I wish this form were better with screen readers, but it isnt. so here we go. I hope this new version of facebook will improve accessibility for blind/visually impaired users. I have a computer with 256 mb of ram and it slows to a crawl on facebook, and whats with facebook not working right with firefox?
  • Travis · 3 months ago
You need to get more ram. lol

aren't you guys a bit getting repetitive. you're covering the same story again and again.

I thought that's what Twitter was for- for people who don't like dealing with the bullshit of Facebook. Right?

Facebook has a knack of forcing people to adapt to whatever changes they make to their website - but this might be a bit too much. I mean, sure, Facebook is one of the most popular ways of sharing links, but the nature of these links might come into question (being more towards the 'fun' side, if you may, as its more of a private network) - thus rendering the search of specific information in a similar manner to Twitter slightly, well, pointless.

Wow that sounded a lot more cryptic than I intended.

I've tried it and I think it's wonderful. It loads faster on my dinosaur of a computer and I don't have to deal with the unnecessary apps that people keep...
