I think it's a little bit of "it's about time" for Facebook here. Flickr has had this feature since I joined, at least 4 years ago, I believe.

Also, Facebook really needs to update their iphone/touch app. Not being able to 'like' posts or comment back to posts to your wall is annoying.

Yes, Facebook Mobile included an address for e-mailng photos, but you had to pregesister your phone number to use it (because everybody used the same target address). Using a secret address means users can send photos from unregistered devices and e-mail accounts.

This system is less secure, but probably more poplar with users. (Who wants to bother with preregistering every phone and email account they might use? What if if you wan to send a photo from a friend's phone?) Flickr, YouTube, and a bunch of other photo/video-sharing sites use basically the same secret-address system. (I just checked my cell phone -- I have "secret addresses" for 5 different services in my phonebook.)

Adam - I don't see a way to reset that email address if it is 'leaked'. Is there one?

If I remember correctly, the flip side is that you aren't able to use the personalized e-mail if you have an iPhone. You are essentially forced to use the Facebook iPhone application for adding mobile pictures to your account.
